Work Brain & Smorgasbord Workout

I almost wrote Happy Tuesday.  However, it’s Wednesday.  Evening.  


What the heck happened to Tuesday?  And most of Wednesday?  This week is way weird.  Way too much work happening.  Next week you probably won’t hear from me at all until Thursday or Friday.  Conference week.  The culmination of all of this crazy work.  Cannot wait to have this all behind me!  It’s all I can think about right now.  Obviously, since I’m blabbering about it on the bloggy. Work brain.

Today started with a smorgasbord workout at home.  I was going to go outside and take a long walk, but it’s really dark and scary out at 6:15am these days, so I opted out of the walk in favor of a random workout from my various magazine clippings and my Fleetly app.  Here’s everything I did.




It was good stuff.  And I can already feel all of those lunges and squats in my bootie.  Yes!  I also tacked on my Daily Duo moves too.  So overall, good little strength workout today.

Tomorrow it’s back to the gym.  I need to get some cardio on.  I’m also anxious to try a little more running.  I whet my running appetite the other day, I want to see if I can do a little here and there, even with my ankle all funktified.  We will see.  I’ll let you know how it goes.  

Alright, I need to jet.  It’s time to watch American Idol.  :)  Have a fabulous evening!

I'm Still Here

Heeeeey there! 
 
I'm so sorry I haven't been chatty lately!  Things are uber busy over here, and last night when I got home from work, Hubs and I literally plopped ourselves down in front of the TV and watched like 3 hours of Yard Crashers, House Crashers and Room Crashers.  We love our DIY Network.  It was heavenly. 
 
So here's what's been going on with me over the last couple of days.
 
Sunday - Hubs and I spent the entire day out a Disney.  Fun fun fun!  We met up with our friends Ralph and Cinthia at Hollywood Studios and spent the day there.  It was a ton of fun.  Ralph and Cinthia were new to the park, so we did a bunch of stuff that Hubs and I (us old veterans) rarely do when we go there.  And we had AMAZING weather.  Warm, sunny and gorgeous.  It was a fun day.  We didn't get home until after 7:30 that evening and then just crashed when we got home. 
 
OH!  This week's goal from 52 Small Changes ... "Eat Breakfast."  Eating?  DUH.  I NEVER miss a meal, so this one is a no brainer. 
 
Monday - I had to be up and out for work before the sun came up.  No joke!  I left my house at 6:59am.  It's still dark out at 6:59am, y'all!  That is way too early for work.  I got to work at 7:15 and was there until 6:15pm.  Seriously, I don't think I have worked this much in the last 5 years, it is an insanely busy time.  Hence my need to just sit and go into a DIY Network TV coma last night. 
 
Tuesday - It's Tuesday already!?!?  Yikes!  Today is shaping up to be good.  I have no training classes, I can actually sit at my desk and work.  Thank God.  Since I knew today would be busy busy busy, I decided to get the endorphins flowing early by going to the gym.  I haven't been to the gym in a long time (since I was traveling last week), so it was so nice to be back there sweating it up!
 
I did a 15-15-10 workout that had me on the bike 15 minutes, elliptical 15 minutes and then the treadmill for 10.  And I actually did some running today!!  I know, I know, I shouldn't, but I did.  And it was OK.  But it still hurts.  But I'm going super duper s-l-o-w (slower than normal, if you can imagine that) and short.  I did a little beginners interval workout that looked like this

It was an easy workout and felt good to run again, even if it did hurt is squige (word?).  I'm going to try it again tomorrow or Thursday.  After the cardio I did a quickie arm workout that looked like this.

Good Saturday Workout

Happy Saturday!  

After my race picture post yesterday, I had a hankering to strap on my running shoes and go outside for a … walk.  I wanted to run, but I took 5 steps running and realized it still hurt like the dickens, so I immediately stopped.  Gah!  I am so peeved about this.  I haven’t tried running in like a month, so I thought maybe it would have gotten better.  So now I don’t know what to do.  Or why it’s not getting better.  Grr.

Anyway, I walked for 2 miles, which felt really good.  It was a nice morning out and it just felt good to move my legs.  Afterwards, I came home and did some Fleelty workouts while watching GCB and Desperate Housewives (yes, yes, I watch every show on television).  The workouts felt great.  I did the "Travel" workout again (because I liked it so much the other day) and one called "Arms and Shoulders." Here's what is looked like ...





And then I did my Daily Duo moves.  Overall, great workout!  

We have no plans for today except for dinner tonight with my parents.  So I am thoroughly enjoying chillin’ and catching up on TV I missed this week while I was in Connecticut. Maybe I'll be able to finagle Hubs into a trip to Costco!

I’ve got to run, I can smell myself so it’s definitely time for a shower!  Have a super Saturday!

My Race Photos Are Always Hilarious

I just got a reminder card in the mail about my professional pics from the Princess Half Marathon last month.  I totally forgot to go out and look at them - duh!  And of course, there are some very comical ones in the bunch!  And now, I present to you, my silly half marathon photos...

Things

Hi there!  Sorry I’ve been incommunicado lately!  It’s been a busy busy week!  BUSY!  

I got home from Connecticut last night, woohoo.  It was a good trip, but BUSY!  So, today’s post is just going to be a bulleted list of THINGS.  (because I don’t have too much to talk about)

1)  The next two weeks I am deeming “hell weeks” for me.  Our conference is a week from Monday and there are so so so so so so so many things to do still.  So many.  It makes me anxious just thinking about it.  So if you don’t hear from me, that is why.

2)  Our conference, lucky for me, is right here in Orlando at the Swan and Dolphin at Disney.  This makes me so happy and excited.  You know what a Disney freak I am, so me getting to stay out there in a schmancy hotel on Disney property makes this hell week somewhat worth it.  

3)  Today I am training 100+ people in Excel again.  It’s a 201 class now.  I am immensely looking forward to it.  (no, really, I am)

4)  I haven’t worked out since Tuesday.  Guys, I haven’t even been doing my Daily Duo.  I did it Tuesday and Wednesday morning, but yesterday I forgot and then remembered at 10:30 when I was watching the Project Runway All Stars finale.  At 10:30, after flying all day, I just wanted to lay in bed.  So I did.

5)  No workout for me this morning.  I have to be at work uber early today, so no time.  I am totally itching to work out though!  I’m debating whether I want to do Bikram tomorrow or go to the gym and do lots of cardio.  I also want to do some Fleetly stuff too.  I really liked those workouts.

6)  This weekend we don’t have any plans as of yet.  I might be working.  Ugh.  Sad, sad life.  One thing I know we are doing, meeting up with my parents for dinner or lunch one day.  YAY!!  

7)  While I was up in Hartford, I discovered Scramble With Friends.  OMG, I am addicted.  But I have no one to play with.  Need people.  If you play, let me know, I’ll play with you.  (PS, I am terrible, so you will beat me)

8)  Today is poodle perm Friday.  Because I knew I had to get up and go early, I showered and washed my hair last night.  Before bed, with wet hair I put my hair into a bun on top of my head and left it there all night.  This morning, I look like I have a PERM.  I’ve reverted back to my high school self.  Like spiral perm curly.  It’s very fluffy, but I kinda dig it.  Such a difference from the straight, sleek look.  I took pics, but my camera cord is acting weird, and I don’t have time to mess with it.  So, maybe later I’ll send them over to you.  For now, here's Monica from Friends when they went to Barbados. (how I feel) Hilarious.




9)  Say a little prayer for Jade’s doggie Zeus (yes, she has a Zeus too!).  He is old and not doing well.  So keep him and Jade in your thoughts.  This makes me so very sad as I look at my old man Zeus.

10)  My eggs are getting cold, so I need to go.  I made eggs, then decided to blog and now my eggs are cold.  Boo. Plus, I need to get outta here and start my day.  (at 7:20...ugh, again, sad)

Spring Fever in the Northeast

Hey there! 

There is some serious Spring Fever going on here in Hartford today.  It’s the first day of Spring and today the weather here was 78 degrees.  78!!!  I remember I was here last year at this time and it was snowing.  Craziness!  It is so beautiful here right now, I am really lucky to be here this week, it feels like Florida! 

Since I was cooped up in the office all day, I felt the need to be outside and enjoy the beautiful weather, so I decided to take a walk around the area near my hotel.  Be it a very short walk, but it was a walk nonetheless.  Just to be outside in the fresh air was nice.

After my short walk, I decided to do an in-room workout using my Fleetly App.  I am loving this app.  I will never struggle again to come up with an at-home workout because this thing is awesome.  I did the “Travel Workout” (fitting) and the “Shredder 1” workout, which looked something like this …

Yeah, aren’t the reps funky??  I’m not sure if I hit a wrong button or something, but the number of reps per exercise were totally whack.  But whatever, I did it.  It was a great workout that took me a little over 30 minutes to complete!  And they got me good and sweaty, which I totally needed.  That, coupled with Daily Duo, I'll call it a workout!

Hey, I was just reading Skinny Runner and she mentioned a super sale on Compression Socks.  Heck yeah!  I have been wanting to buy a pair of compression socks for so long, but never wanted to pay the $40+ for them.  This deal has them for $25.  Not bad!  So I am contemplating buying a pair…  I know I’m not running right now, but when I can run again, I might want to give them a whirl.

I’ll ponder that as I chill in my room, and get some work done tonight.  Have a super night!

Things I Learned and Read in the Air

(FYI - this is blog post number 400....WOWEE!)

Hello from the air!  I am typing this in the air but won't post til much later (cuz I'm too cheap to buy Internet in the sky...seriously $10? I'll wait 2.5 hours and then get it for free when I land!)

On my way to Connecticut I read the latest issue of Health mag. I love his magazine because it focuses on not just how to get a toned butt or midsection, but how to be healthy on the inside and stay sane as well. Here are some gems I learned today that I thought I would pass along to you... (you're welcome!)

- Cherry juice is a great drink for runners to aid in muscle soreness, and also helps muscles recover better from a strength workout. Duly noted, where can I get some?

- Being a gossip girl is a good thing! Gossip has proven to be therapeutic. Your heart rate and stress level elevates when other people behave badly, and lowers when you tell others about it (ie, gossiped, vented  or complained). See, this is why I've been so "complain-y" at work. It's therapeutic! (True story: the other day I came in to work and told my co-workers I was not going to complain for a whole day. I lasted literally 2 minutes. All I had to do was open my email. Therapeutic!)

{Random thought - I totally miss Gossip Girl, when do new episodes come back!?}

- If you are having anxiety over a deadline (hello, me!), hug someone who is also tense. Hmm this might work while I'm up in CT this week. My counterpart, who I am working on this conference with, is equally as stressed as I am about it, and could probably use a hug. Duly noted!

- If you really want to learn something, teach it to someone else! Hell yes!  This is my job,  a corporate trainer, and I cannot tell you how much I have learned through the years by teaching! Case in point, last month I taught Microsoft Excel to 250 people (yes, really, it was nuts). Didn't know a lot about complex formulas and function in Excel til I taught it. Now people think I am Excel expert and call me for help. Little do they know, I knew as little as them before I taught it. Now I am an "expert"! Go figure!

- Eat the skin on pears - my current favorite fruit. It delivers potassium, vitamin C and good antioxidants. Yay! I actually have one in my purse for snack time!

I also learned how to look less old and saggy. That's always a good thing to know.

Alright now it's time to get some work done so I'm not so harried when I land! Busy week ahead!

Dave Ramsey Live & Goals

Hey!  It’s Sunday already!  How did that happen?

We had a very busy day yesterday.  We went and saw Dave Ramsey speak live.  For 5 hours.  So we were there all day long.  It was great though.  




For those who don’t know who Dave Ramsey is, he is a financial guy who has written many books on how to save money, how to invest money, basically all of the things you need to do to get rich.   Hubs and I learned about him by going to a class at our church called Financial Peace University, which was a 12 week course that took us through everything from how to save money to how to eliminate debt, to where to invest your money, to how to do a household budget, and a whole bunch of other stuff that everyone needs to know.  The class was amazing.  We finished it up last March and when we saw Dave was coming to speak at UCF, we thought, “let’s go see him live!”  

So we did.  And I’m glad we did because honestly we had kind of forgotten some of the things we learned in class, and now we’re gung ho to start them up again.  It was a great day.  And no, no pictures were taken.  We got there a little late, so we were literally sitting in the second to last row of the UCF arena.  Nose bleed seats.  Haha.

So that was Saturday - jam packed.  Today is going to be a little more chill.  Cleaning, errands, that kind of stuff.  I leave for Connecticut tomorrow morning (again), so I also have to figure out what I am packing and pack.  Good times.

It’s Sunday, and you know what that means … a new goal!  This week’s goal in 52 Small Changes is an easy one that I stop and think about, and do, often - “Take a Deep Breath.”  The chapter talks about how when we get stressed we don’t take the deep cleansing breaths we need for our brain to be clear (to un-stress us).  So the challenge this week is to focus on deep breathing for 5-10 minutes per day.  Done.  This is a good one for this week, because I have a feeling my stress level is going to be through the roof.  I also kicked “A” at last week’s challenge of reading labels on food.  Since I’ve been “healthy eating” now for 2 weeks, I’ve become a pro at this.  

Which, by the way, cutting out bread and cheese is working wonders for me.  I know I can’t cut out bread forever, because I love it too much, but man I feel good.  And I have definitely seen a difference on the scale as well.  The other key lots of fruit.  I eat fruit whenever I want a snack now.  Before I would eat something else when I got snacky - a granola bar, or something not good for me - now I just eat fruit, and that fills me up and carries me to the next chow time.  Good stuff!  I’m very pleased.

Since I’m traveling this week, my workout goals are a little non-existent.  Though, I did just read about an app called “Fleetly” in Fitness magazine, which has hundreds of workouts for you to choose from and do.  Very much like Nike Training Center, but a lot more variety.  So I am planning on a combination of those workouts and my fun “at-home sweaty workouts” that I have been doing lately.  Since I seem to have an aversion to the gym at my hotel.  Oh, and I might go to Bikram while I’m up there too!  Since that’s where my love for Bikram began!!  We’ll see, I have an uber busy week while I am up there.

And that said, I’d better figure out what I am going to pack!  Talk at ya later, have a super Sunday!

A Playlist, Workout and Cute Commercial

It’s FRIDAY!  Whoo!  It’s been a crazy week, so I am really glad the weekend is upon us!

Last night I downloaded some new stuff (in yellow) and made a new workout playlist in an effort to get me up and get me to the gym this morning.  





It didn’t work.  I slept until 6:30 (too late to go to the gym) and then decided to get up and do another at-home workout.  I’m really liking my at-home magazine workouts.  This one was a combination one I found in Fitness magazine - the “Burn Mega Calories!” workout - and some other stuff I made up.  It looked like this...

Although today, inexplicably, my achilles is super sore.  I’m not sure why, I didn’t do anything to upset it.  It’s just being difficult.  It must have heard that I signed up for the Tower of Terror 10 Miler yesterday.  I know, I know, I’m not supposed to run long distances with my tendinitis, but it’s not til September, and I plan to be fully recovered by then (God willing).  Plus, if you register before March 27th, it’s only $90.  Which sounds like a ridonkulous amount to pay for a race, but is actually bargain basement cheap for a Disney race.  (seriously)  

And before I go, I had to share with you my new favorite commercial on earth.  Anything involving cats is instantly my favorite (remember my old favorite commercial?).  I laugh out loud everytime I see this commercial.  LOVE!

FMM on Thursday

Good morning!  

So today is Thursday and I just realized that I totally forgot Friend Makin’ Monday again!  I am really sucking it up with that lately, huh?  

Thankfully, I had nothing to talk about this morning (I took the morning off from the gym), so now i have something to talk about!!!

  1. How often do you read for pleasure?  I love reading!  I always have to have a book that I am reading, even if I can only “dabble” in it, I always have a book.  
  2. Are you currently reading a book?  If so, which one?  I am!  I just started a manly thriller, David Baldacci’s First Family.
  3. Do you subscribe to any magazines and/or newspapers?  Yes.  I subscribe to too many.  I find really good deals online for like 2 years for $5 (Redbook) that I just cannot refuse.  And I participate whenever my cousin sends me her school magazine fundraiser thingie (thanks Lizzy!)  My subscriptions include:  Redbook, Fitness (LOVE this mag) and Health (another awesome mag). And then usually I pick up Self or Shape (whover has a better cover) at the airport when I travel.
  4. Do you prefer reading traditional books or using an e-reader?  I’m a traditional girl, I like to turn pages.  But I probably should get a reader, our bookshelves are getting full.
  5. How often do you go to the bookstore?  I used to LOVE going to Borders.  I loved Borders more than Barnes and Noble.  I’m just not a fan of B&N so I usually buy my books on Amazon.
  6. Do you read at the gym? YES!  I just talked about this yesterday.  I cannot go to the gym and not have reading material.  I would die of boredom.
  7. Have you ever been a member of a book club?  No.  I don’t read often enough, so I would never be able to keep up with a book club.
  8. Do you wear glasses when you read?  I bought a pair of reader glasses a few months ago and they make reading so much easier.  I don’t wear them all of the time but I probably should.  Whenever I put them on I go, “OH!  That’s much better!”
  9. Has anyone read the Hunger Games?  No.  I know it’s a huge phenomenon, but I just don’t get it.  Not my kind of book.
  10. What is your favorite thing about reading?  It’s relaxing, it takes you to a different place and it’s such a better alternative to TV (which I watch too much of!)

Catching Up

Hey hey!

Sorry I was absent yesterday.  I think have reached a point in my career where I am now too busy to blog from work.  Travesty, I know.  It makes me sad.  Not that I should really be doing that at work anyway (hee).  Once things slow down at work I will return back to normal blogging schedule.  I am working on putting together a big conference for our peeps, and it's eating my time.  Case in point, I came home last night and worked til 9:30.  I never do that, so I must be busy.

Anyway...I'm going to stop talking about work.  

Let's talk about yesterday's workout.  I didn't get out of bed and go to the gym like I was supposed to, so instead I swapped Wednesday's workout for Tuesday and did a replay of the Sweaty At Home Workout that I did the other day.  I like this.  It's a really good strength routine that hits all kinds of body parts (that I am feeling today).  I did the workout while watching Sunday's episode of GCB.  Does anyone watch that?  It's hilarious.  I did the workout two times through so the workout lasted the entire episode - 45 minutes (sans commercials).  Not too shabby.

This morning, I went to the gym.  I'm actually fresh from the gym right now, and super sweaty (and in need of a shower).  I did 15 minutes on the bike reading my new book - David Baldacci's "First Family" (a manly thriller) - and then did 20 minutes on the elliptical while reading the latest issue of Redbook.  I don't know about you, but I have to be reading something at the gym, otherwise I am super duper bored.  Anyone else like that?  A lot of people say if you're reading at the gym you're not working hard enough.  I call that bunk.  I'm working hard and stimulating my mind ... multi-tasking!  After the elliptical I did an arm workout that looked like this.


And I did my Daily Duo as well.  Fab!  So I'm on track this week with workouts, yay.  Though, I must say I really really wanted to sleep in today.  But I had the thought again - a workout will boost my energy level and my good mood throughout the day - and I need that today at work fo' sho'!

Kerry's Chicken Fried Rice

My craptastic day, not so craptastic!  And it ended awesomely with a new favorite kitchen victory ... Easy Chicken “Fried” Rice!  No, it’s not bad, it’s good.  And I took a gamble on it.  I had some leftover brown rice in the fridge that I needed to use up, and I had an idea, so I decided to give it a whirl.  

First, I cut up a chicken breast and tossed it in a pan with some Pam and some Mrs. Dash.  Sauteed that up real good.  When the chicken was almost done I added about half a cup of teriyaki sauce (Kikkoman) and let it simmer a while longer.  Chicken part, done.

In another pan I cut up half of a sweet onion and some zucchini, put it in a pan, added a little bit of olive oil and sauteed that up.  When the onion and zucchini were nice and soft, I added in the brown rice and a splash of teriyaki sauce.  And some Mrs. Dash (Mrs. Dash is so good).  I stirred it all around for a couple of minutes, let everything marinate and that was it! But ya know what I forgot? Egg. Fried rice always has egg. Dur.

I plated the rice - half for me, half for Hubs - I divvied up the chicken and boom, yummy, delicious, Kobe Japanese Steakhouse-style dinner.  Damn, it was good.  I could have had a whole bowl of it myself.  I told Hubs I’d be making it later this week with STEAK.  He loved this idea.  So very good.  I really impressed myself tonight!  

After dinner it was like 5 o’clock daylight outside, so we decided to take advantage of our lovely backyard and sit outside for a bit.  It was so nice to just sit outside in the lounge chairs and enjoy the scenery and wonderful weather we’re having.  

And now it’s Bachelor time.  I’m so glad this season is over.  I don’t like Ben, I hate the chick he picks (yes, I read the spoilers) and the only reason I am watching is to see how this all plays out … and to see them together on the After the Final Rose show.  I’m such a doof.

2 ) I am not liking this "Spring Ahead" thing so far. It was waaay dark out when I left the gym this morning. That changes, right? Doesn't it get lighter earlier as we move towards summer?

3) I had to give myself a pep talk in bed this morning. I was seriously contemplating sleeping in, but I have a craptastic day ahead of me, and I knew a workout would boost my mood and make my day better. Really! 

4) My craptastic day?  I have conference calls scheduled all day long. Here is what my morning looks like: call from 9:00-10:30, 10:30-11:00, 11:00-12:00, 12:00-1:30. Seriously? When am I supposed to pee? Or eat? Sheesh!

5) Not craptastic - my workout this morning. I went to the gym, with my new fab playlist, and did 15 minutes on the bike and 30 minutes on the elliptical. Cardio only, since I had to get in and out quickly (because of my craptastic work day). It felt good!

And now, my craptastic work day is starting ... Here's hoping it's not too, too bad! Have a fabulous Monday!!

Movie Marathon Day & Goals For the Week

Is it really already 5:00pm?  

What a crazy, lazy day.  I haven’t even showered yet today - how’s that for being real?  

Being that we “sprung forward” last night, we didn’t end up getting out of bed until almost 11:00 today.  Sheesh!  Normally we’re 8:00 people, even on weekends, but this morning it was super dreary out, so we slept late.  Then as soon as we got out of bed, we plopped ourselves on the couch with one thought in our minds - “movie day!”  It’s dreary out, we don’t have anywhere we need to go or anything we need to do, so today is  the perfect day for a marathon movie day.  

We’re the only people on earth who haven’t yet seen Avatar, and we’ve had it on our DVR since September (yes, really), so we figured today is the day!  3 hours later, mission accomplished.  What a GREAT movie!  I remember when it was out there was all kinds of hoopla about it, and I just really had no desire to see it.  But now I get what all of the hoopla was about.  Though, I will say it was probably about 30 minutes too long.  Movies over 2 hours and 15 minutes start to get on my nerves.  So, during the movie I multi-tasked and did my Daily Duo and a quickie arm workout that looked like this.

After Avatar, we checked out another movie on Netflix on-demand - Limitless with Bradley Cooper.  It was pretty good too.  A little weird, but entertaining.  Now we’re taking a break from movies to actually DO something (ie, laundry, cleaning, emails, blogging, but definitely not showering).  We might even watch another movie after that.  Why not?  

So, it’s Sunday, that means it’s time to talk goals for the week!  

This week’s goal from 52 Small Changes is “become a label reader.”  This chapter focuses on reading the labels on food to know exactly what is going in your body, what a true serving size is, and understanding what each of the items on a nutritional label mean.  It was a pretty interesting chapter and I actually learned a little something.  I’m a total label reader, so this will be an easy goal to achieve this week.  Last week’s goal of “stretching” was successful too.  I did stretching exercises pretty much every day last week, with the mother of all stretch workouts - Bikram Yoga - yesterday.  So I’m good there.  Tina also posted an awesome stretching routine as well, that I might just have to use!

Workout goals:

Monday - Gym: bike, elliptical
Tuesday - Gym: bike, elliptical, arms
Wednesday - Home workout
Thursday - Gym: bike elliptical, treadmill walk, arms
Friday - Rest
Saturday - Outside walk
Sunday - Rest

Since I’m not running at the moment, and giving my ankle a break, my workout schedule looks uber boring - gym, gym, gym.  Meh.  

Now I am going to go and make a new “get pumped” workout playlist to spice up the gym this week!  Talk at ya later!

Strawberry Festival & tobyMac

Hello!  Happy Saturday!

Before I get into Saturday, let’s talk about my stupendous Friday.

After a trying trip to Costco (read: CROWDED, annoying people everywhere, but I got lots of fun stuff) Hubs and I  got in the car and headed to Plant City, FL, which is about an hour away from Orlando, to go to the Florida Strawberry Festival to see tobyMac in concert.

We made it there around 5:30 and it was raining.  Figures.  The festival is a mix of carnival and exhibits and entertainment.  Our first stop was the exhibit hall where they were selling strawberry shortcake.  You cannot go to the Strawberry Festival without getting shortcake.  It’s a rule.  Check this out …

It was sooo delicious I can’t even describe it to you.  After that, it was time to find some dinner.  Now, when you think of carnival food what do you think of?  Funnel cake, corn dogs, nachos … you name it, they had it.  There were so many delicious looking options, we walked around for nearly an hour trying to figure out where we wanted to cash in our calories.

Hubs ended up getting a crazy looking Italian sausage sandwich.  And for me …

Notice I had to put my hair back.  And yes, that's a foot long piece of fried chicken.
Fried Chicken on a Stick!!!  

Only at a carnival can you find fried chicken on a stick.  Seriously, it was delicious.

After that, we got “dessert” in the form of kettle corn (fresh kettle korn is sooo good) and then we made our way to the Wish Farms concert arena for the tobyMac concert.  




The Strawberry Festival brought in some huge country acts this year - Luke Bryan, Rodney Atkins, Josh someone (sorry, I don’t listen to country), The Band Perry, Reba - so it’s a pretty big draw.  Our concert was no exception, the place was packed to the gills.  



We got kind of bored waiting for the show to start.

The last time we saw tobyMac was in September at Night of Joy at Disney, and it was my first introduction to tobyMac.  I didn’t know a lot of his music at that concert.  Since that concert experience, I have become a crazy fan.  So this time I was able to sing along to everything.

His music is SO infectious and fun and just amazing (great workout music, he’s always on my workout playlist).  So the concert was fantastic and so much fun!  His music appeals to everyone - 6 year olds were singing along, and 60 year olds were singing along. And he always makes sure to pause and bring it back to the reason why we're all here - God. Amen, brotha! It was such a great experience.






At one point in the concert he went out into the center of the crowd and did 3 or 4 songs.  Neat!
Overall, fantastic night.  It’s always a victory when you get to eat good food, hear some great music and just have a fun filled Friday night.  And that’s exactly what we did.  



Today was a little more low key.  I started my day with Bikram Yoga.  It was great!!  I haven’t been in two weeks, and I can honestly say I kind of missed it.  Plus, I really needed to sweat out the residual affects of that fried chicken on a stick from last night.  :)  

For the rest of the day Hubs and I ran some errands, I got some work done so I wouldn’t be too frazzled on Monday and now we are watching a cinematic masterpiece - Masters of the Universe from 1986. No, I am not kidding. Did anyone know Courteney Cox was in this movie?!!
