Killer Buns and Thighs Coming My Way...Someday

Hello there!  Happy Tuesday!

First off, thanks for the comments from yesterday’s FMM!  I still get “pee in my pants excited” when someone comments on a post (yes, I’m a dork), because it happens so infrequently.  So thanks! 

Today started with a workout that got me one baby step closer to my goal of lean legs – I did Jillian’s Killer Buns and Thighs workout again.  I did the workout for the first time last Thursday and honestly had not been able to walk or sit without groaning in pain until Sunday.  That’s how tough it is.  So I figured today was a good time to try it again.  That, and the fact that I had an early morning dentist appointment (just a cleaning) and had very limited time this morning.  I was toying with just sleeping in and not working out, but then I thought, “no, I just talked about my leg goals, and this is the perfect opportunity to work on that!”  So I did.  It was good.  I swear, my heart beats faster when I do a workout like this, than when I do certain cardio – it’s no joke!  And now I’m sure by mid-day tomorrow I will be feeling it again... for another 4 days.


Tonight I also have a little “cardio” planned.  Well, not really, but Hubs and I are going out to Epcot tonight to wander around the world and meet up with my Aunt, Uncle and cousins who are in town!!  I’m super excited about seeing them, it’s been a while since I’ve seen them (they live in Chicago).  And, my cousins 17th birthday was yesterday too!  Man, time flies!

Happy Monday and FMM

Hey hey hey!

It’s Monday!  Aren’t you excited?  Me either.  But it’s here and we have to endure it, so we might as well be happy about it.  Right?

I worked out today and it felt so good!  I made my triumphant return back to the gym on Saturday (after my 10-day business trip) and did a good 50 minutes of cardio on the bike, elliptical and treadmill.  It was glorious!  I missed my gym!  Then I went home and did a great arm workout (and watched more episodes of The Hills).  It was so great, I went back today.  Today I did a 10-15-20 workout – 10 on the bike, 15 on the treadmill and 20 on the elliptical.  All good stuff.  And then I did an arm routine that looked like this:


Fabulous.  I’m back in it after my laziness in Connecticut!!

I like this week’s topic, it’s all about goals!

FMM:  Goals and More …

1. Brag about some of your daily, healthy habits.  I have to work out.  If I don’t, I get cranky and feel icky.  So I look at that as a huge thing.  Because I could just be sitting on the couch being lazy all the time.  Another healthy habit that I am mighty proud of is I gave up Diet Coke almost a year ago.  I had a nasty Diet Coke habit and I quit it last October.  This was HUGE for me because I never thought I’d be able to do that.  Now, I don’t even like the taste of Diet Coke anymore.  As a result, I drink tons of water.

2. Do you track your daily food intake? If so, how? I do when I am being really good.  Like if I had a few pounds I want to lose, I write down what I eat.  Otherwise I just keep a mental tally of what I’m eating to keep myself on track.  Or, I don’t… J

3. What do you want to change most about your daily routine?  I sometimes wish I had the energy and desire to work out at night on those days where I don’t feel like getting out of bed in the morning.  But I loathe working out at night, so if it doesn’t get done in the a.m., it doesn’t get done.

4. How often do you exercise?  On a normal week, 4 or 5 days.  On a crazy busy week, like I’ve been having lately, 3 is my goal but it usually ends up being like 2.

5. How do you stay on track when you’re on the go?  Define “on the go” …  When I’m home and have a normal schedule, I’m good eating wise and exercise wise.  But when I travel for work, I’m a mess.  Though I am getting better!!  I used to not work out at all when I traveled.  Now, I can get in 2 or 3 days if I am lucky.  To help me stay on track, I do bring my exercise bands, so if I can’t get to the hotel gym I can at least some arm exercises or something while I’m being lazy watching TV in my room.  Eating is another story.  All bets are off when I travel.

6. What’s one excuse you use that prevents you from reaching your goals?  One of my goals, which I talked about the other day, is to pay more attention to my lower body.  I focus a lot on cardio and upper body work, but I very rarely work my lower body out.  And my lower body is my biggest problem area.  And my excuse that prevents me from reaching my goal of working my lower body is lame.  It's usually something like,  “I hate lunges and squats” or “Leg work hurts” or “I get so tired when I do leg stuff.”  All lame excuses that will not be tolerated anymore!  J

7. What scares you most about your journey?  Falling out of it.  I can be “good” for so long, and then all of the sudden I lose interest in being good and working out.  And when I do that, I see the pounds start to pack on, my stamina disappear and everything gets soft.  So I always worry that one day I am going to get lazy and stop (because I’ve done it before).

8. What do you think will change most when you reach your goal? (If you have reached it, what’s different?)  More confidence.  Better endurance. 

9. What motivates you to reach your goals?  I just want to be healthy and happy in my skin.  That’s what motivates me.

10. Share a few of your goals.  
- I want to get back to running desperately.  After a few months off from an injury, and
no running whatsoever, I am getting there. 

- I also want to get back to all running and not run/walking.  Ever since my hiatus from running in 2010, I have never gotten back to being able to run 9 miles without stopping to walk (that was always my magic number, my body's limit, 9 miles).  When I got back to running in 2011, I eased back in with run/walking and I loved it.  But I want to get back to full on running.  Not fast, just running.

- And of course, as I mentioned above, I want to get my lower body in shape!  I neglect it and just think “oh the cardio will be fine” but that’s not true.  All the running in the world will not tone my butt and firm my jiggly thighs.  Trust me, I have tried that.  Lunge and squats!

I'm HOME, and I'm Craving Salad?!!?

(I totally meant to post this yesterday, but I wrote it and then forgot to post, dur)

OMG, I’m HOME!!!!! 

Ten days in Connecticut was lovely (the weather was such a nice reprieve from Florida summer – it was 65 degrees yesterday morning, that’s like WINTER for us), but I am SO glad to be back home.  I slept in my own bed last night, I got to see Mr. Zeus (who actually forgot who I was, he kept running from me), I got to see Hubs,  I made breakfast this morning in my own kitchen, it was just heavenly.  The only other time I’ve been away from home for 10 days or more was for my honeymoon and we were in paradise then (Hawaii), so we didn’t miss home all that much.  But I can safely say I have missed home. 

I have also missed a normal routine.  Doing these workshops had me in the office by 7:30 (which never happens here) which then rendered me exhausted and lazy for the remainder of the day.  I worked out a few times, but definitely not enough.  I am actually craving a really good, sweaty workout.  I was toying with going to the gym this morning, but I didn’t get home until after 11pm and decided to sleep in instead before coming to the office.  But you can bet me and the gym will be reunited very soon! 

I missed cooking!  I know, I know, I don’t cook every day of the week, but I miss a home cooked meal.  I am definitely planning on cooking tonight and tossing in an adequate amount of vegetables too (since I have pretty much had NONE for the last ten days – unless you count tomato sauce on pizza?).  I am actually craving vegetables.  Which is so not like me. 

If you can’t tell, I am so very happy to be home.  Thankfully my next round of traveling doesn’t come until the end of August and that will only be a 4-dayer.  And then in September I have two back to back weeks of travel, and then I’m done for a while.  Woohoo!

TODAY

OK, so I forgot to post that yesterday, so I thought I’d just add on today.  A little 2-for-1 action, if you will.

So, last night I got home and decided to NOT be lazy so I busted out the Jillian Michaels Killer Buns and Thighs DVD.  And killer it was.  I can barely walk today.

 
While I was gone, I decided that I hate my legs.  It’s the one part of my body I hate.  My arms, love.  My abs, good.  My butt and thighs – a MESS.  They’re jiggly, they’re not toned, I have cellulite, I HATE THEM.  So I’m doing something about it.  Jillian is going to get my buns and thighs into shape.  Well, Jillian, lots of cardio and a better diet.  But that’s my goal, legs and butt, which means lots of squats and lunges (which I despise), lots of leg machines at the gym (which I never do) and some good old fashioned running (I’ve been skimping on my PT exercises, so we’ll see how the ankle holds up).  Gotta do it, man. 

Anyway, I did the 30 minute Workout 1 routine on the DVD and let’s just say I was screaming right back at Jillian who was screaming at me.  She’s tough stuff.  I don’t watch The Biggest Loser, but man, she’s mean.  I did the Shred once or twice and she didn’t seem that mean.  Whatever, I’ll take a little mean if it means me working on my trouble spots, right?  My goal is to do that DVD at least 3 days per week on days where I am not at the gym.  Let’s just hope I’m not this sore after each workout.  We’ll see how this goes.  I’m not doing really well on my goals this month (Daily Duo – haven’t done it once).    

After that I cooked dinner for the first time in over two weeks.  Nothing fancy, just baked chicken and roasted greenie beanies.  It was delicious and my body actually applauded when something green entered my body.  No joke.  I am now craving Caesar salad big time.  I told Hubs this morning that we must go to Sweet Tomatoes (or Souplantation for your West coasters) tonight because I want their salad.  And when my body craves salad (which it never ever ever ever does), I must listen to it.  So Sweet Tomatoes Caesar Salad and Thai Chicken Salad, I am coming for you tonight!!!! 

And with that, I am outta here!  My boss just called and told me to go home.  No, not in a bad way, in a “you’ve been traveling and busting your A all week, you deserve to go home early.”  So I am going to listen to her!  Have a great Friday night!!!

New York Part 2

Another week, another class. Another week of eating in restaurants and, being lazy.  Sigh.



I'm still here in Hartford and a new crop workshop attendees are in class this week. I must say I am pretty tired of being away from home.  I get home tomorrow night and I cannot wait!  This is the longest business trip I have ever been on (I've been here since last Monday). But I did have a little mini vacation thrown in there over the weekend with Hubs so that made it better.



Speaking of mini vacations lets get back to our fun filled day in NYC shall we?



We left off the other day with the end of the Uptown Tour. It was about 1 o'clock by this time and we were starving and we had only one thing in mind - PIZZA. When in New York you must eat pizza from a hole in the wall place near Broadway. Not a nice sit down place, a greasy place. And that's exactly what we did. We found a place on 8th Ave near Times Square that served us this little gem...


It was so delish we each had two slices. OMG good!!  After that we found the bus to start our Downtown Tour and we were off!


We passed through Times Square on the bus where we saw the chaos around the TKTS booth. Y'all Times Square was ridiculous.


There were about 1 million people just in that 3 or 4 block span. Claustrophobia. I felt so much better when we were off of Broadway and on side streets with less people.



On the tour we saw the original Macy's from like 1900, which actually was not the original original one. The original one was near Soho (I think) and was about 1,000th of the space the current Macy's building occupies (at least that's what our tour guide told us, who knows if it's true).


Today Macy's takes up an entire city block. It's amazing. Alas, we did not go inside.


The NYC Post Office - which, our tour guide told us, is currently being considered to be the location of the new Penn Station in the near future (since the beautiful Penn Station that once was was demolished to make way for Madison Square Garden ... it's amazing what you learn on a tour!)


After that we saw the Empire State Building...

 We drove through Greenwich Village and Soho (two places I would love to go back to and spend the day shopping) and then down towards Wall Street where we caught a glimpse of the new Freedom Tower at the former site of the Twin Towers.  

 
The Wall Street bull.  I was baffled at how many people were crowded around it trying to take a picture.  It was like Mickey Mouse at Disney World.  


After this we drove to the tip of Manhattan where you could catch the Staten Island Ferry to ride past the Statue of Liberty, South Street Seaport and Battery Park.  And then we rode back uptown and ended our tour at Rockefeller Center.


After our tours we wandered around the streets - up and down 5th Avenue, back to Times Square to find some dinner (more pizza) and then back to Penn Station to catch our 8 o’clock train back to Hartford.  


At this point we were exhausted and SO ready to get on the comfy train and relax.  We walked a total of 6.15 miles that day (I wore my pedometer), and ended up with some really sore calves (my excuse for not working out the last couple of days).  But it was totally worth it!  Hubs and I had a fantastic day!!  We saw pretty much the entire city and had a great time doing it.

The next day, we wanted to explore more, so we drove south to Mashantucket, CT to Foxwoods Casino to check it out (and visit another Hard Rock Cafe for Hubs - he’s obsessed).  It was fun! We played a few slots and lost, we walked around both the Foxwoods Casino and the MGM Grand Foxwoods and now we can say we saw it.  Oh, and guess who was hosting some pool thing at Foxwoods after we were there?  Audrina!  You know my current obsession is The Hills (I’ve literally watched 25 episodes on my Nook while I’ve been on my business trip - regular TV is boring) so it was quite fitting that she was there the same week.  Anywho...



I gotta get going.  I have some Hills to watch.  It’s the one where Heidi and Spencer get fake married in Mexico.  These two...  Have a great night!!

One Day in NYC

Whatta FUN weekend! 

Hubs and I had such a blast yesterday in New York!  I am sooo glad he came up and we were able to do that!  When he got in on Friday night he informed me that we had been married for 1,000 days (who knew he was keeping track of the days?), so it was very fitting that we were having a fun little mini vacation to celebration 1,000 days of marital bliss! 

So on day number 1,001 of our marriage we got up early and made our way to Union Station in Hartford to catch the Northeast Regional Amtrak to Penn Station in NYC!

The train was such a lovely surprise.  It was comfy, spacious and took no time to get there.  OK, that’s a lie.  It took two and a half hours, but we made multiple stops between here and NYC and we occupied ourselves with free Wifi, Nook reading and funny pictures.

I’ve been to New York several times for work, and I’m a master with directions, so I figured I would have no problems navigating us from Penn Station to where we needed to go to get our tour bus – Times Square.  Wrong.  I was so turned around for the first dozen blocks or so.  But once I saw Parsons, I knew where I was.

And then we found Times Square.  I think of Times Square as home base when I am there, so once I found that, I knew where I was.  Because seriously, the city is a grid – all numbers – so how hard is it to get from 34th or 52nd?  Not hard, just on the feet (18 city blocks).

Times Square was a madhouse.  I cannot believe how many people were in once space. 

Once in Times Square, we found a Hard Rock Café, which made Hubs very happy.

If you remember from vacations past, Hubs is a huge HRC fan and has to get a pin from every city we visit, so of course NYC was no different. 

From there we found a very friendly City Sights tour bus guy where we were able to buy our tickets for the Uptown and Downtown Tours.  Our goal was to see the entire city by bus and hop off wherever we felt like we wanted to spend time – the ultimate way to see the whole city in just a few hours.  So we hopped aboard our tour bus for the Uptown tour.

…and we saw sights like Columbus Square.


Central Park.

As we drove through the city, I was just mesmerized by the architecture around the city.  They just don’t make buildings like this anymore.

The Museum of Natural History.  Isn’t this the museum from the movie Night at the Museum?  I love that movie.

More of Central Park – we drove around the entire perimeter and it was PACKED.  I could not believe the amount of people walking, running and just wandering around the park.  Central Park is amazing.  Here you have this bustling city and huge skyscrapers and then a gorgeous park in the middle – it’s mesmerizing. 

Then we went down museum row – The Guggenheim.

Real Quick

Happy FRIDAY!!! At the airport waiting for Hubs to get in to Hartford. Super duper excited about our NYC adventures tomorrow! Worked out again today. 1.55 miles on the treadmill. Weak, but I was in a time crunch. Something is better than nothing, right? GREAT week! Can't wait to top it off with showing Hubs what I now call my Northeast home. (since I'm here so much!) Have a super weekend!!!

Hills Inspired Hair?

Hey there!

Sorry it’s been a while since I wrote.  I have been uber busy with my training class (at the office every day at 7am – bleh!) and I am happy to report that today was the last day.  YAY!  It went great and I am so happy it’s over.  Now we only have 7 more to go over the next two months – the next one starting on Monday.  AAH! 

Enough about work.  I actually snuck out of there early today so that I could go to the gym.  I know, who am I?  I haven’t visited the hotel gym since Monday, so today I decided that I wanted to feel GOOD instead of tired and sluggish, so I immediately put my workout clothes on when I got to the room and went downstairs.  I was all alone in the gym (which is literally in an 8x8 room), so I played on all of the cardio equipment – 10 minutes on the bike, 10 on the elliptical and 40 minutes walking on the treadmill (2.05 miles) - all while watching 3 episodes of The Hills on Netflix on my phone (yes, I’m still watching it…I’m 16). 

It felt really really good to sweat and get caught up on the daily lives of Lauren, Audrina, Whitney and Heidi.  And now I’m actually contemplating cutting my hair into a Lauren Conrad bob circa Season 4.

I dunno though, my hair is longer than it’s been in … well, ever.  And I’m kind of wanting to see how long I can go without cutting it.  But I must say I am starting to hate it.  Long hair, Florida summer, not friends.  I have a hair appointment the first week in August, so we’ll see what happens! 

Sorry, back to the workout… When I got back to the room (after walking up 5 flights of stairs) I did some arms and leg work.  Now I am feeling peppy and so glad I did that.

The other thing making me peppy – Hubs comes to Hartford tomorrow night!  Yay!  Since I have to be here two weeks in a row, it made no sense for me to go home and then come back a day later, so I convinced Hubs to come up and explore Hartford and NYC with me.  Well, more NYC that Hartford (because there’s really nothing to see here).  On Saturday we’re taking the train into the city early in the morning and spending the day there sightseeing and eating New York pizza.  Yeah, that’s on the list of things to do, fo sho!  Can’t wait to share photos and stories from the weekend! 

And on that note, I must go.  I think Audrina’s getting back with Justin Bobby (NOO!).  Have a great night!

Afternoon Connecticut Workout

Hi dee ho from Connecticut! 

I made it here after my packing debacle, all in one piece without my suitcase exploding.  What did explode, though, was my giant bottle of Organix coconut milk and hibiscus lotion, which smells like heaven.  Explosion.  Everywhere.  Unable to salvage.  Thankfully I packed it in its own Ziploc bag, so it didn’t ruin anything.  Phew.  But I’m still sad about my lotion.  I’ll live though. 

I got here around 12:00, had a meeting from 1:00 to 3:00 and then had nothing after that, so I came to the hotel, unpacked my giant wardrobe of clothes that I brought and then got bored.  It was 4:30 and I had nothing to do.  I could have worked, but I really didn’t have anything pressing to do.  And I didn’t have anyone to hang out with, so I put on my workout clothes and went to the hotel gym.  SCORE!


Folks, that is two business trips in a row where working out has ensued.  I think I have turned over a new leaf, after my years of inactivity during business trips.  And I’m so glad I went!  I met a woman from my company who is in a training class put on by my co-worker (and former boss) – how crazy is that?  So we chatted about work and whatnot while I did 2 miles walking on the treadmill.  I didn’t bring my running shoes so I’m relegated to walking, elliptical and bike for the next week and a half (kinda did that on purpose).  Fine by me.

After my 40 minutes on the treadmill (yes, I went slow because I was talking and didn’t want to be panting in front of a stranger while I talked to her), I hoofed it up 5 flights of stairs to my room and then did some legwork.  Lunges, squats, some of those killer ones where you tie the band around your legs and do leg lifts, stuff like that.  Overall, I am super happy I did that. 

Now I am showered, in my jams and ready to watch The Bachelorette!  Too bad it’s only 6:30 and it doesn’t come on til 8:00.  I stopped and got something quick and easy to make for dinner (Easy Mac and an apple), so I am ready to chizzle out in my room for the night. 

Tomorrow is a busy day – first day of our first workshop, so here is hoping we’re ready to go and everything goes off without a hitch in class tomorrow.  Oh, speaking of class, my Jolly Ranchers made it fine too in my computer bag.  This is how many I was lugging in various pockets of my computer bag.  I wasn’t kidding about the 5 lbs.  That's a freezer bag full of Jollies, not a sandwich bag.


Anyway, I’m off to make some Easy Mac and research things to do in NYC this weekend.  Have a wonderful evening!

Strange Carry-On Contents

Hello from the airport!

Packing for a week and a half long trip is tough. I had to pack 7 days of work clothes and then outfits for a weekend mini-vacation (to NYC!) all in one suitcase. Needless to say, zipping my suitcase this morning was a challenge and I was pretty darn certain that I was over the 50 lb limit. But normally skycaps rarely weigh my suitcase anyway so I figured I was in the clear. 

Wrong. I got Mr. Play By the Rules who told me I was 4 lbs over. I was pleasantly surprised it was only four, but distressed about how I was going to get 4 lbs of stuff in my rolling computer bag (which was already packed to the gills). 

I just bought a new rolling computer bag not too long ago and its awesome. It has like 100 different zipper compartments for stuff and then a tiny little suitcase type thing in  the back in case you wanted to make your computer bag double as your suitcase. I don't know who would or could do that (a tiny person with tiny clothes and shoes I presume) but it's there. I originally stuffed this compartment with my giant training binder for my class tomorrow and a 5 lb Costco bag of Jolly Ranchers (because all good trainers give candy to their class, duh). So I was chock full in the carry on, no room at the inn.

Back to my skycap... So now I have to fit 4 lbs of crap into my carry on. I chose my cosmetics case and my electronics case (a little bag with all of my chargers, my camera and my travel alarm clock) to ride with me in the carry on (this actually equated to 6 lbs, and I swear I don't wear that much  makeup) but something had to go, and it was the Jolly Ranchers. I offered them to the skycap and he didn't seem to want them (and he was probably thinking, "why is she traveling with 5 lbs of Jolly Ranchers?") so I had to put them somewhere.  The bag of Jollies was big and cumbersome, so what did I do? I opened them up and dumped them into several compartments of my carry on. So yeah, my computer bag has loose Jolly Ranchers all throughout - in pockets, in folders, in zipper compartments. I'm sure the guy looking at my bag in the X-ray machine was like "what the ...?" Whatever. It's all getting to Connecticut some way, some how!

And now my flight is delayed 30 minutes, yipee! I'll report back when I get to my destination! Have a marvelous Monday!

Catching Up

Hey there!  Happy Friday!

When was the last time we talked?   A while ago, right?  Sorry for that.  I’ve been uber busy at work (prime blogging time) and then I’ve been busy at night too, so it’s just been a busy week.  I’ll get you caught up (although, warning, there’s nothing too exciting here, just me babbling).

Tuesday night I dreamt about work all night long.  So when my alarm went off to go to the gym at 5:30 on Wednesday morning, I made the quick decision to get up and not go to the gym, but go directly to work to get workin’.  No, I didn’t go in at 5:30, but I did get there about an hour earlier than my normal time.  And let me tell you, in that hour I accomplished a ton of stuff.  So I guess it was a good decision.  However, skipping the gym was not the greatest idea because I was BEAT half way through the day and when I got home at night I had a headache, I was grouchy and I just felt like ick.  I know if I had started my day right and exercised I wouldn’t have felt like that.  Lesson learned.  Endorphins, they are a wonderful thing.


Thursday, I had an early morning dentist appointment (or so I thought) so I had to forfeit my morning at the gym again.  AAH!  Turns out, I get to the dentist tell them my name and whaddayaknow, they don’t have an appointment for me.  Um, hi, I rescheduled it last week.  So, I rescheduled (for the 5th time) and went to work early again.  Sheesh.  The rest of the day though – FABULOUS.  I wrapped up everything for my upcoming workshop by lunchtime, and then I knocked out another project on my To Do list, so I was rockin it at work.  Do you ever have those days at work where you just feel like your boss should walk up to you and give you a raise just for being awesome that day?  That was my day yesterday.  Although I didn’t get a raise, I did get an email from my boss telling me, and I quote, “I am so lucky to have you on my team.”  Warm and fuzzies.

Last night we traipsed all around Orlando looking for a birthday gift for J.  She turns 17 (OMG!!) tomorrow, so we had to get something good.  So after my marathon workday, we had a marathon shopping trip and didn’t get home til almost 10 o’clock.  Sheesh.  And then we had to watch the season premier of Big Brother (woohoo!!), so we didn’t get to bed until after 11.  So I made the decision then and there that a gym day was not going to happen AGAIN this morning.  UGH!  But, I did do a home workout that involved a Pilates DVD and an arm workout DVD.  So I wasn’t totally lazy bones today.  It felt good to do something this morning.  Although I will say I wasn’t too enamored with the arm workout.  The chick did way too many reps of each exercise, so by the time each exercise was done, my arms were on FIRE.  Maybe that’s good, but I like to rest in between reps.  Just me.

Today, since I got so much work done yesterday, I don’t have much to do except prepare for my trip next week.  I’m gone for a week and a half in Connecticut.  Yes, even over the weekend (because it’s silly for me to fly home on Friday night and then fly back on Sunday night, ya know?).  But, I convinced Hubs to come up for the weekend and we’re going to New York City next Saturday, just for the day!  I can’t wait.  We’re going to have a marathon day around the city seeing whatever we can fit in in the 8 hours were there.  Woohoo! 

We went to lunch today at Chick Fil A and apparently at our Chick Fil A, if you wear black and white today you get a free meal.  WHAT!?!?!?  How did we not know this/!?!  It was MOBBED with people dressed as cows.  And us dummies were the only people in the whole restaurant who PAID for their food.  Dur.  Such a missed opportunity.  Here some info about Cow Appreciation Day if you're interested!  (free Chick Fil A rocks)

Where Did The Day Go?

Where did today go?  I’m just wondering.  

Oh, yeah, I was on a conference call from 10-3 and then 3-4 and 4-5.  That’s what happened to my day.  Ugh.  I hate when my workday interferes with my blogging.  Hee.  What’s all the work for?  Well, next week I start my summer tour.  Six training workshops in three different cities. I’ll be traveling from now until September.  2 weeks per month.  Gotta love it.  

So, this morning was my final physical therapy appointment.  My Orthopaedic only ordered three more PT sessions at my last visit and this was my third.  I begged and pleaded my Physicial Therapist to let me keep coming for free, but she told me there’s really nothing else she can do for me.  I will be continuing my exercises at home to continue strengthening my left side and that’s that.  

It was kind of sad leaving my Physical Therapist,  Jessica.  She told me that I have come a really long way in a short period of time, when she didn’t really think I’d improve that much since I’ve been misusing my left side for close to 26 years.  But she said that my gait is much better and, while I still have a ways to go with my hip, my foot is looking A-OK.  That makes me feel good.

So two months of physical therapy = money well spent.  I can run again with no pain and I’m not dragging my foot so much anymore, so that right there is good enough for me.  YAY!

No workout to speak of today, since I had the early PT appointment.  So tomorrow I will be making my way back to the gym for some quality time on the elliptical.
