De-Furred

Hey hey happy Sunday to you!

We’ve had a busy and great weekend thus far - got some Food and Wine Festival in, we deep cleaned our house, we shopped, we cooked a fun Mexican fiesta at home last night - fun stuff!

No working out.  I thought it would be fabulous to go a full 7 days without doing anything exercise-worthy.  I know this isn’t a great idea, but I just thought a full week off would be so nice.  So that’s what I did.  Tomorrow, it’s back to the grind.  I promise!  Gotta keep this thing in check!

24 weeks
While I didn’t go to the gym to workout, we did get some exercise in on Friday night by walking around the world and eating delicious cuisine at the Food and Wine Festival.

So we only did one lap around the world (approx 1.5 miles), and we stopped and ate a bunch of food in between, but hey, walking is walking.  It’s better than sitting on the couch right?

Epcot was SO crowded on Friday night.  I mean, it was the first day of the festival, but still, we thought it would be empty on the first evening and then super crowded on the weekend.  We’re dumb.  It was ridonkulous crowded and made us very excited for Monday night, when we’ll go and have the park (and food) to ourselves.  I did get my beef skewer with Chimichurri and boniato that I have been dreaming about for the last week or so.

It doesn’t look fabulous, but it is.  Trust me.  I don’t even know what boniato is (tastes like mashed potatoes), but I do know that it’s delicious and can now be safely added to the vegetables I will eat column.  We also sampled food in Japan, Germany, Canada and Hawaii and then stopped at the desserts and champagne booth to round out the night.  We had a fun time!

Saturday, I didn’t wake up until 8:00 and decided that watching Project Runway in bed sounded better than my planned 3 mile walk on the treadmill.  So that’s what I did.  However, fear not, I did get lots of cardio in that day.  Hubs and I scoured our house from the hours of 10-2.  I kid you not, we cleaned for four hours and I probably got my heart rate up higher from cleaning than walking (no joke!).  Not that our house was that dirty, but we decided we wanted to rid ourselves of cat hair.  This obviously isn’t a lasting thing since we still have a big, white, furry cat living in our house, but we de-furred our bedroom (vacuuming in our comforter and dust ruffle, all which had visible white fur on in), the couch (I even flipped all of the cushions, and now it looks like we have a brand new couch), and everywhere else that had visible fur.  We swept, mopped, dusted, cleaned the fans, cleaned the bathrooms, cleaned the blinds and I even decorated for Autumn, getting out all of our Fall/Halloween decor.  It feels Fall-ish in our house now, even though it’s still 93 degrees here.  Exciting!

Like I said, we’re not dirty people, but it just feels so amazing to have a super duper clean house.  Am I right?  After that we got showered and dressed and went and had lunch (at 3:30) and then ran some errands - Costco, Target, and we finally bought a chair for our new desk.  Fun times!  On the way home we decided that we wanted Mexican for dinner, so got all of the fixings for taco night, brought them home and Hubs cooked for me!  He makes one thing in the kitchen, and that’s tacos, so I let him cook for me.  Fun stuff!  After dinner we watched Clash of the Titans (no, not the 1980s Harry Hamlin version, the one that was out a couple of years ago) and I read some magazines.

It’s been a great weekend, and today is rest day - movie watching (now we’re watching the sequel, Wrath of the Titans, sheesh), and chilling out.  Perfect way to end the weekend.  Now I'm off to see if Sabrina posted about the Tower of Terror 10 Miler that I didn't get to do this year. I cannot wait to hear all about it!!! Have a great rest of the day!

It's Food and Wine Time!!

Hi there!  Happy happy Friday!!!!

I didn’t get a chance to write yesterday because it was a busy day.  I was busy at work and then had to leave for an early doctor’s appointment, so I just never got around to saying hi.

I am officially 24 weeks pregnant!  So my question is, can I officially say I am 6 months pregnant?  24 weeks = 6 months (give or take), and I’ve completed 24 weeks of pregnancy (Gah!  I cannot believe that!), so technically I’m 6 months.  Right?  This always trips me up.  The math major over here, tripped up by simple weeks vs. months math.  But yeah, I really just want to say “I’m 6 months pregnant” because that sounds so much more bad ass than I’m 5 ½ months pregnant.  Ya know?  Anyway…

I also learned yesterday and I am gaining weight like a champion.  Sheesh.  I got on the scale and was told a number that made me want cry.  Whatever, I’m SUPPOSED to gain weight.  I’m not going to worry about the number, I’m just going to worry about being healthy about it and continuing to exercise because of all of the good things that come from that.  But seriously, OMG.

On that note, I took another glorious morning off of the gym.  I figured, let’s make it a full workweek and just sleep in all week.  Grr.  Man, when you’re thrown off your schedule on a Monday (mine was for a good reason), it’s hard to get back on track!  I kind of hate that.  But no worries, I have plans for lots of walking this week, starting tonight, then continuing tomorrow during my triumphant return to the gym (I haven’t read my book in a week!) and then again on Sunday for another trail walk with Hubs, so at least there’s activity on the horizon.

Today marks the first day of my FAVORITE time of year - the Epcot Food and Wine Festival!!!

If you’re not familiar, Epcot (out at Disney) does a month and a half long tribute to cuisine from around the world.  They situate food stations from many many different countries around the World Showcase and you walk around and enjoy the food from all over the globe.  It’s the best!  Hubs and I go out there several times a week (yes, a week) to eat, walk, and see concerts (they have a fab Eat to the Beat concert lineup this year!!).  The concerts are really the draw for us, which is why sometimes we’re out there multiple times per week.  Well, that and the food.  Namely the Beef Skewers with Chimichurri and Boniato from Argentina.  YUM!!!  We kind of dream about that all year long.  (if you want to see the Food and Wine menu, click here)

Anyway, Food and Wine, in my mind, is the start of Fall for us Floridians (even though today’s “feels like” temperature is supposed to be 96 – boooo).  But it’s just the feeling of Fall that makes me excited when Food and Wine rolls around, so just color me happy right now!  Tonight Hubs and I will be doing a preliminary walk through of the Festival and scoping out all of our favorite booths.  I’m super duper excited.  And then we’ll be back out there on Monday (the 1st) because it’s Epcot’s 30th birthday on Monday, and we just want to say we were there for that.  That, and Sugar Ray is going to be at the Eat to the Beat, and who doesn’t want to see Mark McGrath rock out at Disney World?

And, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that this weekend is the Tower of Terror 10 Miler that I had to sadly defer my registration for (but for a VERY good reason).  I am super sad that I won’t get to be part of the inaugural run, but I will be there next year FO SHO!  Sabrina is running it this weekend, so GOOD LUCK SABRINA!!!  I can’t wait to read all about it!!!!

And on that note, I’m outta here.  Have a fabulous Friday!!  Stay tuned for pictures from Food and Wine tonight!!

My Love for Maternity Pants

Hello and happy Wednesday!

Now I am officially 100% better!  I woke up today with absolutely no urpiness in my tummy and an appetite!  Yay!!!  I even ate an egg today because I knew I needed some protein, after being totally zapped of energy the last couple of days since I’ve only been sustaining on saltines and English muffins.  I’m still going to eat pretty bland today just in case, but for the most part I am back to normal!  Woohoo!  Tomorrow I might even try for a workout!

I didn’t work out today because: a) I wasn’t sure how I’d feel this morning; and b) I had to be at work at the crack of dawn today for a meeting, which means dirty hair.  I normally wash my hair every day (because I usually workout in the mornings and I sweat a whole lot), but since I had to be at work so early I decided to forego the washing.  I must say, my hair does look pretty OK when I don’t wash it.  I always envision greasiness or frizz, but it looks the same as it did yesterday.  Not too shabby.

Since there’s not much to talk about by way of a workout or anything like that, I’d like to talk about a topic that I am currently in love with.  Maternity pants.  I may never go back to wearing real pants again.  I’m being totally serious about this.  I LOVE my maternity pants.  They are comfy, they are elastic, they have a band thingie to cradle the baby muffin top, it is a pretty awesome thing.  And I love the fact that I don’t have to button or zipper, it’s all elastic!  Seriously, this may be my secret post-baby and beyond (well, I guess it’s not really a secret if I’m telling you).

For those who are like WHAT? I will explain.  Maternity pants freaked me out in the beginning.  For my first trimester, and a few weeks into my second trimester, I was able to wear my normal pants.  Until that time where everything started getting shorter and shorter on me, and it was harder and harder to button my pants.  So I started looking at maternity pants.  I remember being in a Target, just to check them out, and I saw a pair and was like, “what is that??!?!”

No, this is not me, I would never wear white pants while pregnant.
This is probably some model who is not even pregnant, wearing a fake belly.

That band thing all the way up to your boobs kind of freaked me out.  So I was like, nah, I’ll just stick with the rubber band trick and my belly band  and I will just wear my own pants.  Yeah, that lasted for about a week more.  I tried on my first pair of maternity pants (the ones with the band that goes all the way up, none of that under the belly crap, that’s just uncomfortable and weird to me) and it was like the angels were singing to me.  What an amazing invention!!!  So now I have a closet full of maternity pants that are so dang comfortable I might just wear them forever.  Seriously – elastic, but they look like real pants, not like cheesy elastic pants.  I have jeans, I have dress pants, I have shorts, and I’m going to wear them post-baby until I can’t anymore, or until they start falling down, whichever occurs first.

So that’s my love of the day, maternity pants.  I’m glad I could share that with you, and I’m sure you are happy to know about them now.  Right?  J

OK, that’s enough babble.  Tomorrow marks my 24th week of pregnancy, so I will be sure to post a picture of me in my hot maternity pants for you in the coming days!  How excited are you about that?  OK, I must go now before I talk anymore about pants.  Have a superb day!

Better Today

All better!

Well, I’m not 100% better, more like 96.5%, but I feel about 1000% better than I did yesterday!  I woke up this morning and my stomach did not hurt, so that was a good thing.  I’m still a little urpy and don’t want to eat too much, but I’m in such better shape than yesterday, thank God.  I guess it was a 24 hour thing.  Phew!

Ya know what really killed me yesterday wasn’t my stomach but my back!  I have found with my pregnancy that sitting and laying is not really comfortable for me.  I am much more comfy standing up and walking around and being active.  Sitting for too long makes my back hurt like a mofo.  Laying on my side is not fun for me.  And me laying in bed all day, OMG, by the end of the day I wanted to kill myself.  Not really, but I knew that I could not endure another day of just lounging around.  Ugh.  That’s my one (and only one) gripe about pregnancy thus far - backaches.  And I’m sure that’s only going to get worse the bigger my belly gets, right?  Ugh.

Given my condition, no workout again today (duh), which is a bummer because I was really excited about getting into a routine again this week after traveling for two weeks straight and kind of getting out of my groove.  I’ll get there.  This morning I noticed that I had NO energy.  Flat ironing my hair made me really tired and I realized it was probably because all I ate yesterday was 10 saltines, an English muffin and some ginger ale (seriously, I wasn’t even hungry for that, but I made myself eat).  So today I’m trying to eat a little more – English muffin for breakfast, soup and crackers for lunch and I feel OK.  Maybe I will venture into meat or chicken tonight, just for a little protein.  I need it.

One thing I have noticed from all of this laying around – baby girl is active!  Movements that I used to attribute to digestion and regular stomach gurgles, I’m now positive are her moving around in there.  Yesterday she had a whole lot to say, and I’m thinking she wasn’t happy about the pizza I had on Sunday night.  I’ve since sworn off pizza for the rest of my pregnancy (a travesty, yes).

OK, that’s all for now.  I promise to be a little more interesting (and less involved with being sick) in later posts this week!  Have a terrific Tuesday!!

Sick Monday

I’m sick!  WAH!

I never ever get sick, so when I do I become a big baby about it.  Seriously the last time I was sick was November 2010 when I had a sinus infection.  Not fun.  Today I have a stomach bug, or food poisoning, I haven’t yet determined.  No fun for me!

I felt great all weekend.  Yesterday Hubs and I got up and did a 2 miler on the trail and then ran around all day doing errands and whatnot.  I somehow convinced him on Pizza Hut for dinner and that may have been my downfall.  Although after I ate I felt totally fine.  I felt good all night (albeit full) and then when I layed down to go to sleep at 11:00 (after the Emmys) my stomach was making all kinds of racket.  I figured it was the baby doing somersaults (yes, I have felt her in the last week, yay!!!), but then the somersaults turned into a burning achy tummy, so I got up and went in the living room to see if I could get more comfortable.

No dice.  Let’s just say I spent a majority of my night in the bathroom. (lovely)  I don’t throw up - EVER.  I actually purposefully try and prevent myself from doing that if it ever happens (which is never ever), but last night, no dice.  I’m sure you’re totally enjoying reading about this.  Sorry to share, but I feel so icky.  Once I did that, I have felt better, but my stomach is still ooky feeling and I am just not up to eating at all.  I’m forcing myself to eat an English muffin because I’m sure the baby is like “um, usually by now you’ve eaten like 4 meals - I’m hungry!”

I am assuming this is what it feels like to have morning sickness in your first trimester of pregnancy, and man, I dodged a bullet!  If I had felt like this for 13 straight weeks I may have never made it.  Carrie, I give you major props for trudging through.  Whoo!

Anyway, I have nothing else to talk about unless you want to hear about the hours of HGTV and DIY I have watched this morning while in and out of napping, which I am sure you don’t.  So I will leave you now.  Have a wonderful Monday!  Hopefully it’s going better than mine.  Wah!

Questions for you …
- Did you have morning sickness if/when you were pregnant?
- Anyone ever had a stomach bug?  How long does this last?  I really can’t take it much more!

The Week & Baby Registry Madness

Hiiiii!!!!  I am so sorry I have neglected this blog all week.  No excuses, just too much going on.  I am returning to my normal, everyday schedule next week, so expect more regularity from now on, K?

So let’s see, the last time I checked in with you was on Monday (sheesh) so I’ll catch you up on my amazing week...

Tuesday - On Tuesday I was still in Atlanta, it was day two of our final workshop of the summer.  As you know, I’ve been traveling all summer for some training workshops we’ve been doing.  We started in July (when I went to Hartford and NYC) and we’ve basically been doing them every week since (with a couple of off weeks thrown in there).  This week was our final final workshop and my training partner and I could not have been happier about this.  So Tuesday was a workshop day.  I came back to my room at the end of the day and did a very short, but much needed, workout - 15 minutes on the elliptical.  I jumped on the treadmill for 5 minutes after that and just was not feeling it, so I jumped off and called it a day.

Wednesday - Our final day of the workshop!!  We wrapped up around noon and unfortunately my flight wasn’t until 4:55pm, but I headed to the airport anyway.   I’m not usually one to mess with my flight and make changes and stuff, I just suck it up and hang at the airport, and that’s exactly what I did...for 4 hours.  Ugggh!    Luckily the Atlanta airport is ginormous, so I walked for about 5 miles around all of the different terminals, rode the little train around and just explored.  I’m not gonna lie, it got real boring after being there for 3 hours, I had exhausted all shopping options (didn’t buy anything) and I had already eaten lunch, so I wasn’t hungry.  I finally settled into my gate about an hour before my flight and just hung out.  Ugh, airports, I’m kind of tired of them now.  Hubs picked me up from the airport that evening and then I was home.  FOR GOOD.  I don’t foresee anymore traveling between now and baby time, so that makes me immensely happy!

Thursday - I had Thursday and Friday off of work and Thursday was a BIG DAY.  Thursday was the day I created my baby registry!!!!  If you’ve ever registered for gifts (wedding or baby), you know how darn exciting this is.  There’s just something about that little scanner gun they give you!  I thought registering for a wedding was fun, but registering for a baby - a WHOLE different experience!  WOW!  My mind was absolutely blown.  Walking in, I had very little idea of what I wanted or needed, and when I walked out I had a wealth of knowledge, and I was a little bit freaked out, I’m not gonna lie.  Babies need a TON of stuff, and how you use that stuff...ummm, I’m still not 100% sure, but I’ll learn as I go.  Right?

Hubs was working and was totally OK with me doing the baby registry without him, so I met up with my mom and dad who walked around the store with me for 5 HOURS registering.  Yes, I said 5 hours.  Remember, I know NOTHING about what babies need.  We were given a registry consultant - someone who walked around with us and explained everything to us.  I mean, everything.  She was a godsend and I could not have done that without her.  We spent about 45 minutes just talking about bottles and nipples and pacifiers - it was kind of mind blowing.  We made our way around the store and I learned so so much about babies, what they need, what they want, etc.  WOW.  It was awesome though, and I registered for some really great stuff and had a great time with my mom and dad thinking about and talking about the little girl.  It was a great day, but I was SO whooped when I got home.  I was in bed and asleep by 9:15, that’s how tired I was.  Shopping is tiring!

Friday - I had plans with Jade on Friday to shop and get pedicures.  However, instead of shopping we decided to go to another baby store to register there.  There are two pretty popular baby chain stores in town.  I registered at one on Thursday with my parents and then there was some specific stuff at the other one that I wanted, so I registered there as well.  Fun times all over again!  Since I was an old pro at registering, I only dragged Jade around with me for an hour or two, instead of five.  She was even more helpful than the girl the previous day because she knew all the good brands and all of the good things to get and the things/brands to stay away from in her experience.  It was great.  After that, we celebrated and got pedis, because my feet were tired.  Between the airport walking, walking around for 5 hours at baby store #1, working out on Friday morning (I did a 10-15-20 workout at my gym … haven’t been there in a while!) and then walking around baby store #2, I needed a good foot rub.  Great day!

And now it’s Saturday morning.  I’m taking the morning off of working out because I just am not feeling it today.  I might do something light around the house (yoga?) in a little bit, but no gym for me.  I am hoping that Hubs is up for another trail walk tomorrow morning, but I promised him we would not do 6 miles again.  Maybe 3-ish.  We’ll see if I can convince him.

Hope you’re having a fabulous weekend so far!

Foot Bruise

Hello!  I'm back in the ATL! And I'm actually in the same exact hotel room I was in last week. Weird huh? At least I know everything in this room works. And I get to enjoy another few days of skinny mirrors. Woohoo!

Today was good. It's our final workshop of the summer, which means no more traveling after this! This is the eighth workshop we've done, and by the eighth one you tend to get a little silly. Today's class was just fun and I think we have a good week in store. Hallelujah!

After work today I decided to go off on my own and do some shopping. The shopping around here is kind of fab, so I perused the shops before coming back to the hotel to workout. I wasn't going to workout today, but it was only 5:45 when I got back to my room and I figured I'd get really bored if I didn't go do something productive. So I went down and did 30 minutes on the elliptical while reading a new book. It's another chick lit novel (that's all I read) written by the same woman who wrote the last book I read (Good Luck - which was cute), Whitney Gaskell. It's called Mommy Tracked and it's about a group of moms and their crazy lives. I figured it was somewhat appropriate given I'm on the mommy track.

Hey check out my foot!

Don't laugh at my skeleton feet and finger toes - it's not nice.
No, that's not a souvenir from my 6 miler yesterday, I actually dropped a big Yankee Candle on my foot in the middle of Marshalls on Friday (don't worry it didn't break - the candle or my foot) and it hurt like a mofo but didn't bruise until today. Weird huh??

And now that you have seen my foot I think it's time to call it a night! Hope you had a great Monday!

Sunday Almost 10K

Hi there!  Happy Sunday!

This morning started off A-OK!  I convinced Hubs to walk with me on the trail near our house! I'm not normally a Sunday worker outer, but I really wanted to get in a good walk before this week’s traveling since I will probably only be able to workout on Monday while I'm gone.

I figured we’d do a quick 2 or 3 miles tops on our jaunt today, but it ended up being more like 6.  Yes, 6 MILES!  Actually 5.88 if you need to get technical (which I do).  We parked our car in one area and I wanted to walk to a place on the trail that I normally pass on my way to the gym.  I wasn’t sure exactly how the trail meandered around to get to that point, so I wanted to check it out on foot.  I thought it would only be a couple of miles to and from that point … yeah, no.  We got to the 2 mile mark and we were nowhere near that point, so we kept on going.  We didn’t end up turning around until mile 2.98.  Yikes.

We actually toyed with just walking home from that point, since it was closer to just walk home than to retrace our steps and go back the way we came, but we thought better of it and instead turned around and retraced our steps.  5.88 miles in all, one hour and 52 minutes of walking.  Nice!  We celebrated with Dunkin Donuts afterwards - did you know they have their season PUMPKIN flavored donuts available now?!?  OMG, YES! I had one.

Now we’re both pretty beat.  I’m all packed up and ready to make my way to the airport, but we’re just lounging around until then.

And no, I did not bring my camera on our 6 mile jaunt (again, whatta terrible blogger I am), but I will share this with you … me at 22 weeks.  That thing is getting bigger... :)

22 weeks
Hope you’re having a fabulous Sunday!  I will talk to you from ATL!

Day Off

Hello and happy Saturday!

I took a day off from everything yesterday - exercise, blogging, work - and just had a nice, relaxing “me” day, because I deserve it.  Plus, I know that “me” days are going to be hard to come by after January 17th, right?  I spent the day sleeping in (til 7:15, whoopdeedoo), catching up on Project Runway, getting my haircut, shopping (for a b-day gift, new shirts to fit my expanding belly and cupcakes for said b-day) and then just chilling rest of the day at home.  It was SO NICE!

I then capped off the day by getting together with my girlfriends for a much needed girl dinner to celebrate my friend Mireille’s birthday (which was on the 11th).  We went to a sushi restaurant in swanky Baldwin Park, which was super nice.  I don’t do sushi and instead got a dish called Bul Go Gi, which was soy marinated tenderloin and rice.  It was good.  I also had some delish edamame that was tossed in the garlickyest (yes, it’s a word) salt.  It was good too.  And then of course I capped it off with a cupcake that was to die for (banana, my fave).  It was just so great to see the gals and gab about anything and everything.  We had a nice time and were out until after 10:00.  Watch out!!!  (I remember the days when we didn’t go out UNTIL 10:00...ah, we’re old)  And no, I’m a terrible blogger and did not take one single picture.  I need to work on this.

This morning I woke up in need of some cardio, so I went to the gym and did 10 minutes on the bike and then 35 minutes (2 miles) on the treadmill walking at a slight incline.  Gotta keep that heart rate steady, so it wasn’t strenuous in any way, but it made me sweat and made me feel really darn good.  After that I stretched and then came home and did an arm routine that looked like this.

My friend Carrie, who recently became a stay at home mom (HI CARRIE!), looks absolutely amazing and has arms that I am truly envious of, so I thought I’d bust out some arm exercises.  Yeah, Carrie, I need to know what exercises you do and what weights you use, because dang!

Not too much planned for today, it’s rainy out and dreary, and I only have about 28 more hours before I have to get on another airplane and go back to Atlanta.  Ugh!  I just keep telling myself one more trip, one more trip, one more trip, and then I am home for the remainder of my pregnancy, and beyond.  Woohoo!  Not that I don’t love traveling, because I really do, but my back is just not happy with me when I am sitting on an airplane right now.

I will say that ever since I got home I have been sleeping awesomely!  It’s because of my body pillow.  That thing saves a pregnant woman’s night.  Instead of waking up every half an hour, which is what I was doing in the hotel bed this week, I only woke up every 2 hours to reposition.  That’s progress!  No, really!  I wish I could stuff my body pillow into my suitcase, but I don’t think I can finagle that.  Oh well.

Alright, I’m going to stop yammering and go do something.  Have a wonderful rest of your Saturday!

Questions for you …
- When/if you were pregnant, did you sleep with a body pillow?
- Did you work out today?

Restless

Hey there, happy Thursday!

I’ve come to the conclusion that sleeping while pregnant is just not fun.  I love to sleep, but I don’t love waking up every 30 minutes to reposition my body.   Luckily, I drift right back to sleep after I wake up, but still, waking up and looking at the clock and only realizing it’s been about 30-45 minutes since the last time I woke up is so annoying.  The nights seem to go on forever – which normally is welcomed, but not when you’re a bit restless.  And I don’t even have a kicking baby girl yet.  I can’t imagine what it’s going to be like when she’s active all night.  I’m actually quite excited about that.  I still haven’t felt her kick or move, that I know of anyway.  Every time I feel something I’m like “no, that’s just my stomach gurgling.”  Maybe it is, maybe it’s not.  I’m just ready for a definitive kick -  her way of saying “hi mommy!”  It’s coming soon, or so they tell me.

After I spent the night tossing and turning, I was rather sore when I woke up, so I got out of bed, did some stretches - which made me feel so much better - and then I headed down to the tiny little hotel gym.  I did 15 minutes on the elliptical and then 20 on the treadmill.  It felt good to sweat again, so I am happy I got up and did that.  After that I grabbed breakfast and came upstairs to eat and work and get ready and pack.  Busy morning!  My ride to the airport is picking me up between 12:30 and 1:00 so I am now just waiting around for that. I plan on doing some Brighton shopping in the airport today.  I bought my favorite bracelet at the Brighton in the ATL airport earlier this year, so I am anxious to see if there is anything else I can find.  Hee.

I am definitely excited about getting home.  Even if it is only for a day or two before I have to come back here.  I toyed with staying the weekend in ATL and visiting some friends or having Hubs drive up, but after my 10 day trip to Hartford back in July I vetoed that.  10 days is way too long to be away from the comforts of home (and home cooking) for me.  Even if I do spend the weekend doing vacation-y stuff.  And since the flight to/from Orlando is only an hour, it’s not too much of a hassle.

OK, I’m babbling because I really don’t have much to talk about, so I will go.  Have a wonderful Thursday!  Talk at ya later!

- When/if you were pregnant, how did you sleep?

In the ATL

Hello there! Sorry for being out of touch the last day or so. It's been busy busy here in ATL this week. Thankfully my class is over and I leave tomorrow, so that's a good thing.

This week has been fun because my subject matter expert in class this week was my old college roomie, post college roomie, and co worker, Kerry. (yes same name, same spelling)

We were so excited to see each other we had a photo session. She moved to Georgia a few years ago so I haven't seen her since my wedding almost three years ago. Crazy! So it's been fun getting caught up and whatnot. She's my SME next week too when I am here (yeah I come back on Sunday, crazy right?) so we will have more time to catch up.

I am not crazy about my hotel here, it's just OK. One thing I do like, I think they have skinny mirrors in my room. You know, mirrors that are hung in a way that make you look skinnier than you really are? It might be in my head but I feel like I look way skinnier here than at home, and that's saying a lot considering I'm 5 months pregnant!  I'm contemplating putting one of them in my suitcase and taking it home with me.

So yesterday I did not get a chance to work out. Had to be at work at 7:30am and then we had happy hour right after work (no drinks for the pregnant chick) and then I went to dinner with my new work friend Leah, who I seriously wish lived where I live, because I'm pretty sure we'd be besties. It's been fun chatting with her this trip. We went to Cheesecake Factory where we each ate a loaf of bread, our meal, and cheesecake. It was heavenly.

Today Leah and I decided we HAD TO get a workout in before dinner, so we went on a 45 minute walk together. It felt great to get out and sweaty. I plan on doing another workout tomorrow morning, because I have no where to be tomorrow until 1:00, I'm just working from my hotel room. Nice!

OK I must go, it's Big Brother time! Have a wonderful Wednesday night!!

Questions for you ...- Tell me something awesome about your week?
- Skinny mirrors - do they exist or is it just in our head?

Greetings From ATL

Hi!  Greetings from Atlanta!!  I started writing this post at the airport this morning, so here you go….

++++++++++++++

Hey! Happy Monday! I'm currently at the airport waiting for my flight so I thought I'd start drafting a post now.

The morning started good, with a workout - which I haven't done since Friday (unless you count the miles and miles I walked at the park this weekend... I do). I kept it simple today, 10 min on the bike, 15 on the elliptical, and then I noticed the free weights area was open so I busted over there to do an arm workout that looked like this:

ExerciseWeightRepsSets
Bicep Curl w/Twist10 lbs103
Front Shoulder Raises10 lbs103
Lateral Raises10 lbs103
Tricep DipsBodyweight103
Bent Over Rows10 lbs103
Hammer Curls10 lbs103

During my arm workout my iPod died (grr), so I decided to skip the rest of my cardio on the treadmill and go home instead. I don't feel too bad about that.

Can someone tell me why my brand new iPod shuffle ran out of battery today 20 minutes into my workout, after I charged it ALL DAY yesterday? Seriously. It was plugged into my computer most of yesterday. Apparently I'm doing something wrong. Makes me want to go back to my circa 2009 Nano. Whatevs.

I got to the airport today and had to wait 35 minutes in the security line! What the...? Usually when I fly on Mondays I leave earlier and have no problems. Now I know not to leave after 9am. But it was so super slow!!! I'm flying Delta this time around and ... eh.  I’m a total Southwest girl, so flying anything else is just disappointing to me.

++++++++++++++

And now, fast forward to now.  I flew the 1 hour here, landed, met up with my peeps at the airport and it’s been a good day.  We did some work, went to dinner, it’s nice traveling with people.  Usually it’s just me traveling by myself, so this is nice.  I’m now in my room and watching the finale of Bachelor Pad, which is going to be epic!  (I read the spoilers, so I know everything that’s going to go down…epic!)

Hope you had a marvelous Monday!!

Questions for you …
- Did you work out today?
- Do you watch Bachelor Pad?

Musical Weekend

Hello on a dreary Sunday morning!  It’s ugly out this morning - gray, rainy...is there a hurricane out there somewhere?  I haven’t seen the news lately.

Anyway, we have had an exciting weekend thus far!  As I mentioned on Friday, we spent Friday night and last night hanging out and enjoying good music at Universal Studios’ Rock the Universe.  It has been super fun, but a little frustrating.

Why?  Well, apparently Universal Studios does not let pregnant people go near any of their attractions.  None of them!  Not even like stage shows and movies!  WTH?  I’m sure they don’t want to be liable God forbid I go into early labor because of the Shrek 4-D movie, but seriously even the non-ride attractions had a big sign outside saying “Expectant mothers should not ride.”  I get it on crazy rides, but the Terminator 3-D show?  It’s a 3-D movie and a stage show.  For real?  Whatever, we weren’t there for rides anyway, we were there for the music.

The other frustrating thing - the average age at Rock the Universe was about 15, so you had kids between the ages of 11 and 18 tooling around the theme parks being teenagers.  You can only imagine.  I felt really old.  I don’t remember Night of Joy last year being that young of a crowd.  I swear it was an older crowd, but maybe not.

Anyway, Friday night it rained.  A lot.  It monsooned on the way out there, stopped, and then started up again as soon as we got out of the car.  Grr.  Luckily I was smart and brought us umbrellas.

And yes, I do know I have worn that shirt like everyday for the last week.  I’m at a point in my pregnancy where I wear WHATEVER FITS in my closet.  This shirt, not a maternity shirt, fits, so get used to it.  Hehe.

Since we couldn’t go on any rides, Hubs and I just wandered around the park until The Newsboys show at 10:00pm.  Yeah, that’s a lot of wandering.  We did catch snippets of a few concerts, but we were really only there for these guys.

THEY ARE FANTASTIC!!!! The show was AWESOME!  We had a great spot and they just play fantastic music.  It was so so good!

By the end of the night my feet were KILLING me and all I wanted to do was sit down.  The next morning I decided to skip the gym (since I walked about 5 miles the night before) and instead just chill.  I did my stretches and PT exercises, but that was it.  The rest of Saturday Hubs and I did stuff around the house and then made a trip out to look at baby furniture. Whoo!  I think we have decided on what we want, so now it’s just a matter of getting the nursery all cleaned out (currently it serves as Hubs’ office).  We’re about 70% there, but we still have some stuff to clear out.  I cannot wait to start decorating the nursery! I get so giddy when I open the closet in there and see her little tiny clothes hanging...

My Dad picked out this one!
Anyway... We headed out to Universal around 6:00 - no rain in sight, thankfully!  We only had to putz around until 8:30, which was when tobyMac began.  The park was ridonkulous.  Twice as crowded as it was on Friday night and kids everywhere.  OMG.  We made our way over to one of the smaller stages and saw Jason Castro perform - remember him from American Idol a few years ago?

After that we made our way over to the stage where tobyMac was performing early so we could get a good spot.

We got a decent spot, which actually turned out to be an AWESOME spot later in the show when he came out into the crowd onto a platform literallly 20 feet away from us to do an acoustic set.  I could have thrown my water bottle at him and hit him (not that I’d do that), that’s how close we were.  It was kind of awesome.

The show was ahhhhh-mazing, as always.  So much energy, so much fun.  He did songs from throughout his entire career and I was dancing along to every single song.  It’s amazing that a year ago I did not know his music, now I know all of the songs.  Love it!

All in all, fabulous night and weekend!  We were exhausted when we finally got back to the car, but it was totally worth it.  Would I go back to Rock the Universe?  Probably not.  I’m not a huge fan of Universal Studios (I’m a Disney girl), but I would definitely do Night of Joy again.
Today, no big plans, just chillin, packing for my trip next week and that’s about it.

Hope you’re having a great Sunday so far!
