Sugar High

I currently have a sugar high going right now.  Halloween is evil.  I’ve only eaten about 75 of these …

White chocolate Kit Kats = amazingness.  Seriously, I have eaten way too many of those tiny little white chocolate covered wafers.  They are so delicious.  And as a result, the baby has been wiggling up a storm.  Apparently she likes candy too.

Let’s stop talking about the bad things I’m doing to my body today, and talk about the good I did.  First off, I got about 10 hours of sleep last night.  Hubs and I went to watch some TV on the DVR in our bedroom last night and as soon as my head hit the pillow I was out.  8:30.  Nice!  This morning I woke up at 6:30 and did some yoga.  30 minutes.  I’m really liking the prenatal yoga DVD I am using.  It’s quick and easy and gives me some really good stretches that I need at this point in my life.  Afterwards I did a quickie strength routine that looked like this.

Deadlifts10 lbs102
Bicep Curls with Twist10 lbs102
Bent Over Shoulder Raises10 lbs102
Shoulder Presses10 lbs102
Tricep DipsBodyweight102

Not too shabby.  I’m kind of wishing I did a bunch of cardio this morning to counter balance all of the sugar I have consumed today, but eh.  I will, however, be burning all of the candy we don’t give out tonight because I cannot have another day like today tomorrow – it’s a new month, new goals!

Alright, just wanted to check in.  I will leave you now with some other pictures taken today.  Oh, by the way, Jack Sparrow won the office costume contest and Slash came in third.  Yours truly got nada.  Apparently people think this is my real hair.  The judges came by and were like “are you dressed up?”  Um, no, I wear this heavy eye makeup all the time and I cut my hair to look like this permanently.  They went on to say the hair was cute and I could pull it off.  At least I have options!

Have a great Halloween, hopefully you’re not consuming TOO much candy – but a good amount is A-OK.  J

This hairstyle does NOT look good on me

Happy Halloween from the crew at work!

Our theme:  Best of the years past.  We have Slash, me as a pregnant rocker,
or the lead singer of Slash's new band, Captain Jack Sparrow and a devilette
Rock On
Captain Jack Sparrow - Corporate Pirate
Slash and I with our Grammys.  Actually those aren't Grammys, mine is an Oscar
and Slash's is...maybe it's a Canadian Grammy?
PS, I love this wig!
Questions for you ...
- Are you dressing up for Halloween?
- Does your office get into the Halloween spirit?
Ours used to, hence our love for dressing up every year.  However, in the last couple of years no one dresses up anymore.  We walked around today and we are literally the only people in the building dressed up. Sad.  But we're still carrying the torch!

Magic Night

Hello from chilly Florida!  I know the weather is a little bit crazy right now (if you’re anywhere near where Sandy was/is, be careful!), but we are getting the amazing side of it – cool temperatures and sunny skies.  I know this will only last a couple of days, and then we will be back to upper 80s and humidity, but for right now it’s dang nice out!

It was actually downright cold when I went to the gym this morning.  Cold and windy and in the upper 40s.  But I got up and did what I set out to do – 45 minutes of cardio by way of 10 minutes on the bike (I think my belly is starting to get too big for the recumbent bike – my knees hit my belly – need to rethink this), 10 on the elliptical (I was scheduled to do 15, but I wasn’t feeling it) and 25 on the treadmill (I took the 5 I didn’t do on the elliptical and added it to treadmill time).  It was a great workout that definitely warmed me up real quick.  Afterwards I did more squats and called it a day.  Good stuff!

Last night we did something fun.  The Orlando Magic was holding a free open practice at the Amway Arena and it was open to whoever wanted to go.  As you know, Hubs and I are huge Magic fans.  We used to have season tickets and even went to the NBA Finals when the Magic were in it to win it.

Circa 2009 when Hubs was the gameball ambassador for the game.
Today, we are a little frustrated with the direction the team has taken over the last few months.  We let go of our biggest and best player (who actually ended up being a whiny diva in the end, so good riddance) and we got no one in return.  Like, NO ONE.  So we basically have a team full of newbies this year, and no hopes of winning many games.  This makes me sound like a terrible fan, but I’m just being real here.  It’s going to be a tough season until we can work through our issues.

Last night though made me a little bit excited about the season.  Last night we got to see a brand new team, working together to make this season as good as it can be.

They did a team scrimmage and we were there to watch.

It was a fun night and made me a little bit excited about the upcoming season.  We might not have a big name star, but we have heart and hustle!  Go Magic!!

Oh, and did I ever mention that J sang the National Anthem at the pre-season opener this year, earlier this month?  I didn’t!  I was in Connecticut when she did it (BOO), but Hubs was there and got some good pics.

Hopefully she’ll get to do it again during a regular season game!!

And that’s all I’ve got for today.  Hope you’re having a great one!!

Questions for you …
- Are you an NBA fan?
YES!!  I LOVE the NBA and can’t wait for the season to start!
- What team(s) do you like?
Magic all the way!

Goals and Piling on the Miles

Hey!  Look what happened this morning…

We have officially gone from HOT to COLD!  And there wasn’t a lot of easing into it, it was like BAM it’s cold.  I LOVE IT!!!!

Happy Monday!  The cooler weather definitely has me in a good mood this morning (although I’d be happier if I was outside instead of in an office all day).  I even jumped right out of bed this morning.  Well, OK, that’s a lie.  Actually what happened was Mr. Zeus decided that he would starting upchucking in our bedroom at 5am this morning (no worries, he does this all the time, he’s a cat), which woke me up.  I hate being woken up or waking up 30 minutes before the alarm goes off because you don’t want to go back to sleep, and yet it’s too early to get up and get going (at least for me 5am is way too early to do anything outside of bed).  So I just lied there and thought about my day, and eventually got up to go the gym at 5:40.

I made workout goals for this week since I have been a tad lazy lately and haven’t been going to the gym as regularly as I would like.  So here’s the plan for the week:

Monday – 10-15-15 (bike, elliptical, treadmill), arms
Tuesday – 10-15-20 workout
Wednesday – Prenatal yoga, No Shoes Circuit
Thursday – 3 miles on the treadmill
Friday – Rest
Saturday – 3 miles outside
Sunday – Rest

This morning, I did what I said I was going to do and did my 10-15-15 workout at the gym and then went home and did my arm routine, along with some squats and lunges.  I’ve been doing 30 squats every day for the last couple of weeks and honestly I feel like it has made a little difference.  I’m starting to get self conscious about my legs because I feel like that is where I am gaining a lot of my pregnancy weight at the moment.  Yipee – my least favorite body part to work is going to be the one I will need to work the most after the baby arrives, superb!  So squatting I will do.  I prefer the squats to the lunges any day.

Also, in an effort to keep up the motivation, I have decided to partake in Monica’s Pile on the Miles Challenge in the month of November.

I did it last year and it was fun, plus you know I love a challenge and having workout goals to meet (hello, Insanity).  Pile on the Miles is a way to help you not pile on the pounds during the month of November, but instead pile on the miles by running or walking as many miles as you can each week.  You set a goal for yourself when you begin – 10, 20, 50 miles for the month – and then you set weekly goals for yourself as well.  And you can win prizes for it too!  Only walking or running miles count (either outside or on the treadmill), elliptical miles do not, unfortunately.   If you’re interested in signing up, do so by October 31 (Wed).  You can see all of the rules and the sign up spreadsheet on Monica’s blog here.

Fun times!  I figure I am going to be piling on the pounds anyway during the month of November (third trimester is here!), so I need to pile on the miles just to keep that in check, and this is a fun way to do it!

OK, that’s all for me today!  I hope everyone is having a good day so far.  And if you’re in the path or Hurricane Sandy, stay safe!

Questions for you …
- What are your workout goals this week?
- Are you interested in partaking in Pile on the Miles?

Disney Filled Anniversary Weekend

Hello Sunday!  I can’t believe the weekend is almost over already.  It flew by, but we’ve done a lot and had a lot of fun!  Here’s what’s been going on ...

Saturday - We woke up bright and early because it was garage sale day!  Our community was having a garage sale, and we decided to partake for the first time.  We’ve never done a garage sale before, but man, I wish we could do one every weekend - we made a nice chunk of change by 11am.  Not bad for a Saturday!  It’s amazing what kinds of crap people will buy, and how they will haggle with you!  We’re terrible hagglers, so whenever anyone said “I’ll give you $10” when an item was marked at $15, we took it.  We really just wanted to get rid of it and any money is good money.  Right?  Anyway, we closed up shop around 11:30 and got ready for the rest of our day.

Later in the day we made it over to our destination for our anniversary weekend - Disney’s Pop Century Resort!

Not my photo
We got a really good deal on the hotel since we are pass holders, so we decided to do a little mini vacation for our anniversary.  We’ve stayed at Pop Century a bunch of times but it’s a favorite (and it’s cheap), and we had an ulterior motive behind staying there.  A brand new Disney resort - Art of Animation - opened up not too long ago and we have been wanting to get in there and look around.  Well, Pop Century and Art of Animation are connected by a bridge, so by staying at Pop, we were able to walk over to Art and putz around and whatnot.  This is what true Disney dorks do.  Really!

We got there around 3:00, checked in to our room in the 90’s.  There are different eras illustrated throughout the resort - 50’s-90’s - and the decor is really neat.  Here’s the view from our room.

Yes, that is an oversized Walkman
Me at 28 weeks
No, this isn't a new look for my bangs, it was really windy.
Ooh and see Hubs button?  They gave us Happy Anniversary buttons
when we checked in.  Gotta love Disney.
We shared a pool withe 80’s as well, so there was all kinds of 80’s and 90’s decor all over the buildings and by the pool.  Oh, and don’t mind my hair, Hurricane Sandy has been blowing past Florida for a couple of days now and the wind has been crazy.  And it’s made our weather ahhhh-mazing!  Thanks Sandy!

After getting situated at the hotel, we met some friends out at Epcot to enjoy Food and Wine Festival and see one of my most favorite bands ever, Sister Hazel!  (more on that in a minute)  The park was absolutely ridiculously crazy because the weather was cool and windy and it’s one of the last weekends of Food and Wine, so it seemed like everyone and their brother was out there.

We found our friends and hung out for a while before breaking away from the group and going to get seats for the concert.  Y’all, I love Sister Hazel.  I’m a huge Hazelnut, been one since 1997 when their one big hit, All For You, was on the radio (yeah, you know you love that song too).  They just make me happy.  My friend Amanda and I never ever miss their concerts when they come to House of Blues here - remember when we went in March?  Anyway, Sister Hazel plays Food and Wine Festival every year and Hubs and I never miss them.  They’re just so fun!

It was packed!

Ken did a song by himself
And then Drew and Ryan came out and harmonized with him.  It was flippin great!
This made me super excited.  PS, how WHITE am I?
As always they sounded amazing.  They played old hits and new ones and they even played our wedding song, This Kind of Love.  Awww, very appropriate for our anniversary weekend,  right?  We went to two of their three concerts of the night (they do three sets a night) because it was so good.  Afterwards, we caught up with our friends again and chilled out and then made our way back to the hotel when the park closed at 9:00.

When we got back we grabbed some dessert (no pictures taken, I don’t want to admit what I ate after 9:00pm, but it was delicious!) and then went back to the room and turned in.

Sunday - We woke up bright and early - mostly because we were crammed into a double bed and didn’t sleep very much all night.  Seriously, why do hotels do two double beds in a room?  Do they not know that two adults (especially one who is pregnant and travels with a body pillow) cannot fit into a double bed comfortably?  I should have splurged and gotten the room with the king sized bed.  Oh well, next time.

Anyway, we got dressed around 7:30 and went on a walk around the resort.

Me and Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head
The plan was to walk over to Art of Animation and cover the grounds.  And that we did.  We walked over the Generation Gap bridge....

Generation Gap Bridge to Art of Animation
Over into the Art of Animation.  The hotel is situated into four sections - Finding Nemo, Cars, Lion King and Little Mermaid - each section decked out from movie scenes.

Hubs and Rafiki from Lion King
Scene from Lion King
Lifesize Ursula from Little Mermaid
It was really neat!  After we were done covering the grounds (a couple of miles worth - we walked for over an hour) we stopped for breakfast and then made our way back over to our resort and walked around there for a while.  It was a really nice morning walk!  The weather was gorgeous - sunny, windy and cool enough to wear long sleeves.  LOVE IT!

After that we were going to lounge by the pool for the day, but decided it was a tad cold and windy for that (yeah yeah it was like 70, but it was chilly!) so we went on home.  Great day and great weekend!!  Hubs and I definitely had a wonderful 3rd anniversary this year and can’t wait to see what next year brings!

Hope you’re having a fabulous weekend!!

Questions for you …
- Have you been to Disney before?  Stayed at a Disney resort?
- What’s your favorite Disney movie?
Mine is Aladdin.  I LOVE that one!
- Anyone else out there a Sister Hazel fan?

Fab Friday

Hey there!  Happy Friday!

I had another day off of work because I have tons of vacation time to burn before the end of the year, and I had the lovely 28 week glucose test at the doctor today (where you have to drink a super sugary drink - which wasn't half bad - and then they take your blood to test for gestational diabetes), so I just decided to just make a day of it.

Why, oh, why do I still wake up in the 6 o’clock hour even on my days off?  I’m not excited about this.  But it did get me motivated to go to the gym this morning, so it worked out.  I was planning on spending some quality time on the treadmill with my book, however, when I got to the gym I realized that my Nook battery was dead and wouldn’t turn on.  NOOOOOO!

I seriously cannot gym if I don’t have proper reading material.  So I had to cut my workout a tad short.  Not too short, but shorter.  I ended up doing a 10-10-15 (bike, elliptical, treadmill) while watching Good Morning America.  I’ve decided that I hate watching TV while on the treadmill because it makes me trip.  I get really into the TV and then I stop paying attention to what I’m doing with my feet, which is no bueno for me and my foot issues.

Anyway, I got in some cardio at least and then came home and did a strength routine that looked like this...

I did the strength routine at home because, a) being prego, I feel a little funny standing in the middle of the gym lifting weights.  I feel like people are going to judge. Even though I do go to the “judgement free zone” gym; and b) I really wanted to watch Nashville from Wednesday night so I did that while doing my strength routine.  Two birds, one stone.

This weekend Hubs and I are going to continue celebrating our anniversary by going out and doing a little mini-vacation at a Disney resort.  Yes, we only live about 25 minutes away from Disney, but it’s always fun to go out and play tourist and stay at one of the hotels and pretend like we don’t live her.  (I told you we’re dorky)  So I will report back on that on Monday!

Hope you’re having a fab Friday!

Questions for you …
- Do you read while at the gym?
- What are you up to this weekend?

Disney Dorks

Greetings from my home office!  (I just tried uploading a pic and it wouldn't let me, grr)

I’m trying out the “working at home” thing today.  I have the ability to work from home whenever I want, but I haven’t had a place to do it (Hubs works from home 100% of the time) and plus I really love going to the office - all my peeps are there.  Now that we have been moving rooms around to make way for the baby, we now have an office for Hubs and an office for me!  I’m liking this a lot.  I might have to do this more often from now on.

Thanks for your anniversary wishes yesterday.  Hubs and I had a great day playing hooky from work and spending the day together.  Originally we had planned to ride the hot air balloon down at Downtown Disney, but it was too windy and the balloon was not operating.  So instead we opted for a trip out to Magic Kingdom for lunch and perusing.  We wanted to see if we could get in to see the new Fantasyland, because we heard they were doing a soft opening.  Unfortunately, it was only open to cast members.  But we still had a nice time, even though it was ridonkulous crowded … on a Wednesday.  We thought it was rather odd that there were SO many people there, but it’s Disney, it’s always crowded.  It was nice though and we knew we had to incorporate Disney into our day since it played such a role in our marriage – it’s where Hubs proposed and where we did our engagement photo session.

Yes, we’re dorky like that.

After our trip to Disney Hubs surprised me with a treat and took me for a pedicure because I can no longer do my own pedicures (can’t bend that way anymore without thinking I’m somehow disrupting the baby) and because I desperately needed one.  It was lovely and relaxing after a day at the park.  My favorite part of the day, however, was when we finally decided on a name for the baby!  (Dad, you know what it is!)  I’m glad we did that on our anniversary, now we’ll always remember the day that we made that important decision – our 3rd anniversary!   I’ll let you guys know the name once she’s here.  Gotta create a little bit of mystery here!

Yesterday also marked my long awaited triumphant return to the gym!!!  Hallelujah!  It was glorious!  I did a 10-15-20 workout (bike, elliptical, treadmill) and the cardio was so so good.  It’s been so long!  I will be going back tomorrow.  Today, I opted for some prenatal yoga and a quickie strength routine that looked like this:

Bicep Curls10 lbs102
Hammer Curls10 lbs102
Bicep Curls with Twist10 lbs102
Upright Rows10 lbs102
Front Shoulder Raises10 lbs102

Good stuff!  I really missed the gym.

Alright, time to focus and get back to work.  It’s a little harder disciplining yourself when you work from home because there are so many distractions!  Hope you are having a great Thursday!

Questions for you …
- Are you able to work from home?
- Are you a fan of Disney?
You know the answer to this - outside of the dorkiness displayed above, I've also run 11 half marathons - ALL Disney (Disney World, Disneyland, Princess...dork).
- What was your workout today?

Halloween Themes

Hello!  Happy Tuesday!  It’s kind of like a Friday for me because I have tomorrow off.  A Friday on a Tuesday – I like it!  I am taking tomorrow off because it’s Hubs and I’s (is that grammatically correct?) 3 year wedding anniversary, so we’re taking tomorrow off to do fun stuff.  Not sure what kind of fun stuff that will include, but I’m sure it will involve Disney.  Can’t wait!

I’m not even going to talk about the fact that I slept in til 7:15 today.  Nope, not gonna talk about it.

I will talk about the fact that Halloween is a mere week away and you might be wondering what my crazy team is dressing up as.  I shared with you last year some of our past endeavors.  We usually go ALL OUT (because we have some really really creative people on our team), as you can see here.

We've been Pirates:

Rappers:  I'm not pictured here, I was on my honeymoon on Halloween of 2009.  But they decorated my desk very nicely!

Yes, my cubicle was a crime scene with my mugshot plastered everywhere.  Nice huh?
Clue Characters:  My absolute FAVORITE!!!!  We went all out crazy this year!

Prof. Plum, Miss Peacock, Miss Scarlet (me in another black wig) and Colonel Mustard
The whole cast, including Mrs. White, Mr. Green and a drag queen
And then last year, Ghostbusters:

This year, the creative well has dried up.  We’re all either too busy or not in the mood (I mean really, how many cool things can a pregnant girl be?), so we’ve decided to do a “Best Of” theme this year.  We’re all going to come dressed as something from the past – pirates, rockers, rappers, Clue characters or Ghostbusters.  Me personally, I want to rock this wig again and wear heavy black eyeliner, so I am going as a rocker.  Or, a pregnant rocker.  Ha.

So that’s how this year is going to roll.  Exciting!!

Questions for you ...
- Are you planning on dressing up for Halloween this year?
- Do you do anything fun for Halloween where you work?
