We had a fabulous weekend that seemed to fly by. Friday night we had Hubs’ parents over and they brought pizza (PIZZA!) and spent some time with Jillian. Saturday I started my day with a 2 mile walk around the ‘hood. It felt good to move after being sedentary on Friday. I even threw in a running interval or two to keep me on track with my C25K. Later that day my friend Carrie (HI CARRIE!) came by to meet Jillian for the first time. We had a great time visiting and catching up, and Jillian enjoyed meeting her “Auntie” Carrie. (Both Hubs and I are only children, which means Jillian doesn’t have any real aunts or uncles, so all of our friends are Jillian’s aunts and uncles)
After that, my parents came up for their weekly visit and allowed Hubs and I to go out and do something fun. And we did! I gave Hubs two options - one was to go out to Magic Kingdom and have dinner out there and putz around. The other option was to go out to The Boardwalk at Disney and go to our favorite restaurant out there …
Beaches and Cream. We obviously opted for that.
| Yay! That was my first choice! |
Beaches and Cream is an old fashioned soda fountain type place which specializes in fun food (think burgers and sandwiches) and ice cream. We love going out there because who doesn’t like burgers and ice cream? Yeah, it’s not on my post-baby diet plan, but whatever.
I saw this dessert on the menu that piqued my interest...
Banana bread? Peanut butter? My favorite flavor combination!!
It was fabulous! Hubs opted for the chocolate cake a la mode. It was huge.
| With an edible Mickey Mouse on top. |
All in all, we had a fabulous date night!

Sunday we spent hanging with my parents and just enjoying the day. And now it’s Monday again. Tell me, why must the weeks go by so fast? Pretty soon I am going to be back at work, which freaks me out. I do miss working, but right now I cannot even fathom having to balance work with Jillian. It’s just too much to even think about right now. Yikes!
Today starts week 2 of Couch to 5K. I haven’t done a C25K workout since last Thursday (since the program only calls for 3 workouts a week), so I’m a little apprehensive about graduating to the next level. Not sure why, I’m only bumping up my running intervals by 30 seconds, which is no big deal, but for some reason it seems like it. We’ll see how it goes. I plan on doing C25K this week on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. On days I don’t do C25K I’ll be doing other forms of exercise by way of DVDs, Hulu workouts and strength training. And of course walks with Jillian, which I just got back from.
And I am excited to report that I have set my sights on a 5K. In order to test if Couch to 5K really works, I figure I need to schedule myself for a 5K close to my finishing the 9 week program. So April 27th is the day. It’s a couple of week after the C25K program ends for me, but that allows me a little wiggle room just in case I’m not up to par by the end of the 9 weeks. Exciting right?
And with that, I should get going. I hope you’re having a wonderful Monday!
Questions for you …
- How was your weekend?
- Did you work out today?
- Favorite ice cream flavor?
Hey - I'm signed up for a 5K on April 27th too! I will be thinking of you when I am running mine! My first one is coming up - March 16th and I am excited yet nervous.
ReplyDeleteWeekend was busy! Lots of school stuff on Saturday, got Daniel fitted for running shoes for track, took some time to watch a movie with the family. Doesn't matter how much homework I have, I always make time for family movie night. Nothing better than all of us hanging out on the couch with a good movie and some popcorn!
ReplyDeleteSunday was Cub Scout Blue and Gold ceremony. This is where the Weblos 2 promote to Boy Scouts. It's a big deal because they leave the Cub Scout pack. Daniel promotes next year but we went to support the pack and our friends who were promoting. Lots of fun, food catered from Wood Ranch BBQ (yummy Tri-tip, chicken, and the best Mac and cheese!)
No running this weekend but I did run 8 miles on Friday. Ran 5 miles today. Felt good. Lizzy auditioned for the school talent show today. She sang "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and was really good. Her chorus teacher and her assistant helped Lizzy out a lot so she felt comfortable with the music. Also a good trial for her, since she's auditioning for Les Miserables at the local theater in March or April.
Favorite ice cream: a really good soft vanilla. I'm boring! The peanut butter banana bread thing you had looked really good!
