Thanksgiving Fun

Hello!  Just popping in to say a quick hey and I hope you had a fantastic turkey day.  It was a wonderful day on our end - we ate, we enjoyed each other's company, we had fun oohing and aahing over Jillian's amazing ability to walk and waddle around the house my herself  (she will be a faster runner than me, I know it), it was just a great day overall!  Here's some scenes from the day …

No more turkey, mom!

Tuckered our from the tryptophan

"I had a great first Thanksgiving!"
Great day!  Today we're not participating in Black Friday shenanigans (I'm so not into that), but Hubs did find some good deals last night at Target when he got back to Orlando, so now our Christmas shopping is officially underway - whee!

Have a great Friday!!

I Need Glasses

Yeah, another sign of getting older.

It’s been 10+ years since I have gotten an eye exam and I have noticed over the last couple of years that my eyesight is not what it used to be.  I can still see everything clearly (even tiny fonts while reading things on my phone), but sometimes a pair of readers really help out and make things so much clearer, bigger and bolder.  So I thought it might be time to go and have an eye exam.

Well, apparently I was long overdue because the eye doctor told me that I definitely was farsighted and needed glasses.  Well, that’s good, I guess.  She asked me if I would be interested in contacts and I quickly said “oh no, I could never put something on my eyeball!”  Maybe one day, but I’ll work with the glasses first.

She then told me to go out and peruse the frames to see which ones I liked.  This would have been a fun activity, however, she had just dilated my eyes, so my vision was slowly fading with each pair I put on.  Before my vision totally blurred, I found a really cute pair that I liked.  The girl helping me said, “oh, the Tiffany’s, nice.”  Excuse me?  Yeah, apparently Tiffany (the jeweler) makes eyeglass frames and apparently I chose those as my favorites.  Fantastic.  They were only $400 for the frames alone.  No biggie.  Sheesh.  Since I couldn’t see anything at that point I was like “I’m going to need to come back when I can actually see the price tag on everything.”  So I’ll be going back today and I will be sure to stay far away from the Tiffany display case.  Ha.  I had no idea how expensive glasses were!

This morning started off good, I did the Speed 1.0 T25 workout.  I think this one is my favorite of the Alpha series so far because it combines both cardio and stretch and strength, so that’s good.  Tomorrow is Cardio again.  I started to notice that my left foot felt a little tight during the workout, so  I need to keep an eye on that.  I’m planning on taking off Friday and Saturday from T25 since I will be at my parents house and then do the last workout of the weekon Sunday when I am back home.  That’ll give my foot a little rest.  So that’s the plan.

OK, I need to skedaddle.  I need to go to the grocery store and pick up the remaining ingredients for my Cornbread Souffle I am making for tomorrow(YUM YUM YUM) and then I gotta go buy some fancy glasses that will most likely break the bank.  Fab.  Hope you’re having a great Thanksgiving Eve!

Do you wear glasses or contacts?

Walking?!

Oh hey!  I guess I should blog this week, huh.  Being a short week it’s supposed to be pretty low key and quiet, but man I have been busy at work.  No fun.

It’s Thanksgiving week!  I LOVE Thanksgiving, so I am super excited about Thursday.  We – Hubs, Jilly and Hubs’ parents – will be traveling down to my parents house in Clearwater on Thursday and then Jillian and I are going to stay there until Saturday.  Hubs has to work on Friday (his company apparently didn’t get the memo that Friday is a holiday too) so he’ll be driving back up to Orlando with his parents on Thursday evening.  I am totally looking forward to some turkey time!

T25 update!  So I’ve been keeping up with the T25.  I did the Stretch routine on Sunday and it was pretty intense.  It was a cross between some good stretching and then like squats and stuff.  It wasn’t necessarily a “take it easy” kind of workout, but I didn’t really expect it to be.  Monday was Cardio again – I’ve done that one a few times now so I’m getting pretty familiar with it.  Today was Total Body Circuit.  This one is hard.  They do a bunch of stuff I cannot do (yet) – ie, plank jacks, those weird spider plank things and then you have to jump up into a squat position, it’s crazy – so I had to do some mad modifying on some of the moves.  At the end of the workout I felt good, but I need to work on the moves.  Tomorrow is Speed 1.0.  Woo!

So, on Sunday we went to my BFF’s daughter’s 4th birthday party and Jillian was surrounded by kids.  She had a blast and apparently felt a little peer pressure to start walking, because that’s precisely what she did!  She’s been taking a few steps here and there without holding on to anything for the past couple of weeks, but nothing substantial.  Sunday she was off and running.  We couldn’t believe it!  She was definitely showing off.  And ever since then, she’s been all over the place on two feet.  I cannot believe it.  My baby is growing up!!  I have a video, but I have to figure out how to upload it (I have no clue how to do stuff like this) – it’s too cute.

Alright, that’s all from me.  Hope you’re having a great Thanksgiving week and not working too hard (like me).

Any cool plans for Thanksgiving?  Is anyone doing a Turkey Trot or race?

Purplestride and Christmas in FloridaI l

Yesterday I participated in the Purplestride 5K for Pancreatic Cancer.  A friend of mine at work lost her mom to pancreatic cancer, so she put together a group to participate in the race.  It was the perfect morning for a race.

I look bald

As I mentioned, I didn't really have a plan for the 5K - run, walk, eh - but once Jade and I got together I decided to just walk it with her.  I have not seen or really talked to Jade in ages (which is silly because we work in the same building and live less than a mile from each other) so instead of running, I made the executive decision to walk it with her (and her husband and daughter in the stroller) and have a good quality hour of catching up.  It was great!  Way better than running.  Haha!

This was a really special event.  There were A LOT of people participating and everyone, and I mean everyone, was wearing their purple.  It was really nice and I will definitely participate again next year!

After the race (and some Dunkin Donuts and pre-Christmas shopping) Hubs, Jillian and I made our way out to Hollywood Studios to see the Osbourne Family Spectacle of Lights.  If you don't know what I am talking about, this is an AMAZING spectacle of Christmas lights. Disney lights up the entire New York City backlot area of the park in Christmas lights and music, and the lights dance to music.  It's really amazing!!!

Jillian had a blast and loved the fact that it was "snowing" (Florida snow = bubbles).

It was really fun, but would have been even more festive and great if it were a little cooler outside.  It was like 80 with 80% humidity.  I was in shorts and a tshirt and "misting."  Not very Christmas-y.  But we still had a blast.  We'll be going back again for sure!

Disregard Hubs' weird "Movember" mustache - hehe

Hope you're having a great weekend!!

No 5K Game Plan

So, it’s a good thing I did double duty on my T25 workouts yesterday because I accidentally set my alarm for 6:30PM instead of AM, so I didn’t wake up this morning until 7:30, which means no workout.  Booo, hate that.  So I will have to do the “Interval Abs” DVD tomorrow after my 5K.  Or Sunday (which might work better).

So I’ve decided to just fly by the seat of my pants tomorrow for the 5K.  Usually I have a game plan for my intervals, but tomorrow I’m just kind of like “eh, I’ll just run until I’m tired.”  That could end up being good or bad.  I could either end up running the whole thing (and surprising the heck out of myself) or running 2 minutes and walking the rest.  It’s a crapshoot.  I did make a cool playlist for the occasion though.

This weekend we have some fun plans.  Tonight is a chill night at home, tomorrow morning is the 5K and then tomorrow evening we are planning on going to see the Osbourne Family Lights at Hollywood Studios.  I’m not sure how into Christmas lights I can get on November 23rd when it’s 80-something degrees out, but we’re going to try it.  Sunday we are going to my BFF’s daughter’s 4th birthday party.  Should be fun!

And then next week is THANKSGIVING!  Can you believe that?  I am already dreaming of my mom’s stuffing, mashed potatoes and brown and serve rolls.  Yummmm!  I’m very healthy on Thanksgiving.  This is why I am T-25ing during this time of year – smart girl here.

This post is going nowhere fast, so I am going to leave you now.  Have a fab Friday and a stellar weekend.  I may be back tomorrow to report out on my 5K.

How about you – any good plans for the weekend?  Anyone running a race?

Double Duty

I have been working on a stupendous PowerPoint for like the last 5 hours and my eyes are crossed, so I thought I would take a break and say hello!

So this morning I did double duty on the T25.  Why?  Well, I was looking at the schedule and I didn’t realize it, but on Fridays they have you doing two workouts.  Wha?  That kind of the defeats the beauty and magic of the concept of a 25 minute workout, but whatever.  And yes, I know it’s not Friday (although it feels like it, this week has been really long) but I figured if I have to do two workouts in one day I’m better off doing it on a day I work from home, so this morning I did a workout called “Lower Focus” (yikes) and then I did “Cardio” from Monday

Lower Focus is just what you think it is – an icky lower body workout.  Squats galore, lunges, all of my favorite things (not).  It was kind of painful and by the end of it I was like “woohoo I’m done!” and then I remembered that I had a whole other workout to do.  BAH!  I’m not crazy about two crazy hard workouts back to back (I know, I know they are only 25 minutes, but still) so I think I am going to modify the plan a bit and do that second workout on Saturday instead.  The schedule has you only working out Monday-Friday, so instead of doing Monday-Friday with one day with back to back workouts, I’ll do aMonday-Saturday schedule so I get all of the workouts in.  I like that better.  So that’s what I’m gonna do.

This weekend I am running a 5K (well, run/walking) and I’m kind of excited.  With all of the cardio I’ve been doing the last few days with T25, I’m wondering if my stamina will be better so that I can run a little longer.  I know 5 days of workouts isn’t going to make a ton of difference, but I also think part of all that is mental.  And in my brain, I feel a lot more physically strong than I did last week at this time.  So there’s that.  We will see how it goes!

Alright, I’m outta here.  It’s time to close up shop for the day – yay!  Have a fab Thursday

After you’ve been working out more, or differently, do you feel more physically strong in your mind?  (does that even make sense?)

Ow

So I’m 3 days into the Focus T25 program and I am definitely starting to feel it!

Because the first two DVDs focused a lot on cardio (namely jumping), my calves are sore, as are my quads from the squats.  But what’s really hurting are the tops of my arms near my shoulders (I’m sure there’s an official name for that part of the arm, but I don’t know it).  The day 2 workout, “Speed 1.0” there was a lot of punching – jabs, uppercuts, etc – and I think that did me in.  It hurts to lift my arms.  Who knew that just punching the air without weights would make your arms sore?

Today’s workout is going to have a lasting effect as well.  Today was called “Total Body Circuit” and the workout centered around squats and planks.  Yay.  It was not fun.  There were lots of burpees, planks, burpees into planks, burpees into squats, squats into planks… you get the picture.  Half of the moves I could not do, so I subbed in my own little modifications (regular push ups, regular planks) for the things that I couldn’t do (ie, taking your body from a full on plank to a squat position in just one jump – yeah right).  Shaun T said that it was okay to modify the exercises to fit our abilities, so that’s cool.

All in all, I am loving T25 so far.  I seriously love the fact that I can get up, sneak up to the “Insanity Room” (ie, an empty room upstairs that has a TV in it, meant to be a “gym,” yet we have no gym equipment outside of weights and an exercise ball), workout for 25 minutes, cool down and shower all before Jillian starts stirring (lately she’s been sleeping past 9, how awesome is she?). And, in those 25 minutes I work harder and get my heart rate up way higher than I ever would with a run or a gym workout.  So bravo T25!

Tomorrow’s workout is called “Ab Intervals,” which frightens me.  I’m sure that’s going to be plank city.  Whoopee!

Hope you’re having a great day!

Anyone else feeling the "ow" from a challenging workout this week??

Focus T25

I forgot to talk about it before, but for my birthday Hubs got me something awesome that I asked for and hinted at a million times - Focus T25, Shaun T's new workout program. I'm sure you've seen the infomercials. Eee, so exciting!

As an Insanity graduate (a couple times through), I would pretty much buy anything Shaun T was selling because his workouts WORK. Like, all those people in the Insanity infomercial talking about how they transformed their bodies with Insanity, it's the total truth. It's ridiculously hard, but it really works!

Anyway, when I heard there was a new Insanity-like workout series that got the job done in a series of 25 minute workouts, I was intrigued. Insanity worked so well because it was pure, exploding heart, kick your ass cardio, and T25 is no different. The workouts may be shorter, but that just means you have to work that much harder in those 25 minutes.

The program has a day by day schedule that you follow, so today's workout was the "Cardio" workout. And cardio it was! We didn't even warm up, we just jumped right into moves like high knees, jumping jacks, jump squats, etc. I really liked the workout, it was fast, made my heart beat literally out of my chest and made me sweat for like an hour after the workout was finished. And did I mention it was only 25 minutes? Love that!

And I don't even feel bad about only working out for 25 minutes because those 25 minutes I was WORKING HARD. Harder than any run I've been on the past year, that's for sure! Other workouts this week include Speed 1.0, Cardio Intervals, Lower Focus, Ab Intervals and a stretch routine. Can't wait to check them all out.

This really couldn't have come at a better time for me. I've been in an exercise rut lately so hopefully this will pump me back up and get me on track. I'll be sure to report on all of the workouts as I do them, as well as share my results with you! Hopefully l'll be sharing happy results like I did with Insanity!

**********

That was yesterday.  I meant to post yesterday but I got too busy and never ended up publishing - ooops.

So today I did the "Speed 1.0" workout and it wasn't bad.  I think "Cardio" was harder yesterday.  Today's workout was nice because you did a series of really tough cardio moves and then stretches (ie, moments to catch your breath) were sprinkled in.  So day 2, done!  Woohoo!

How about you - have you tried T25? Insanity? Any other Beachbody workouts?

Lofty Goals Indeed

So on Tuesday I made my list of healthy rules that I wanted to adhere to going forward.  I’d like to take a minute right now and just highlight the fact that I pretty much did none of these this week.  Let’s see…

Take vitamins – I actually did do this, so that’s one.

An apple a day – No.  I had half of an apple on Tuesday (in my defense it was giant apple and I was too full to eat the whole thing), but none after that.  I actually have the second half of said apple in my lunch today, but I went to Chick Fil A for lunch instead.  Bad girl.

Drink more water – I met my 3 liter quota every day except Thursday, so that’s good.

Cook at home more – Nay.  I took out a couple of giant chicken breasts from the freezer, but they have not yet been cooked as of yet.  Tuesday night I had dinner with the girls, Wednesday Hubs and I were shopping and we picked up a gigantic pizza on the way home (gigantic food seems to be a common thread in my life apparently), Thursday we ate the second half of said gigantic pizza.

Adhere to weekly exercise plan – Umm no.  It got cold here on Wednesdayand messed me all up.  Monday and Tuesday were on point, the rest of the week, not so much.

Next week the plan is to be better about this, especially on the exercise front because we all know I am a much better person with exercise in my life.

I just read something on Carrots n Cake that spoke to me.  In the weight loss section of her blog she stated some rules that she set for herself and one of those is, “Make an appointment to exercise.”  So many times I say “I’m gonna work out tomorrow” and then life gets in the way and I don’t.  If you treat the workout as an appointment, you won’t miss it.  Do you ever blatantly skip or miss appointments you set?  No.  So why should exercise be different?  I’m going to go with that this week and see how that works out.  Hopefully better than I have been doing.  Right?

How about you – how do you stay on track with healthy things?  Do you offer yourself rewards, make appointments, set long term goals to work towards?  Do tell!

Shopping Steals

Hello, happy Friday!  I can’t believe it is already Friday, the week just flew by.

I have no workout to speak of this morning because, again, it was a chilly morning and I really just wanted to stay under the covers today.  Tomorrow it’s supposed to be 84 degrees, so I don’t suspect I will run into this problem again tomorrow.  Hopefully.  I haven’t run since Monday.  Sheesh.

So I have to tell you about my shopping experiences this week, because I am just so proud of my savings.  I’m a terrible coupon-er.  I clip them, but I oftentimes forget to use them.  Store coupons (like Ulta) I am much better about, but oftentimes I still forget to use them when I get up to the cash register, which is so annoying.

Anyway, I needed to go buy some picture frames earlier this week, so I went to JoAnn because they always have deals and coupons.  Well, I hit the jackpot because all frames were 60% this week, which made them crazy cheap.  And then, when I got up to the cash register I asked if I could use my JoAnn coupon from my JoAnn app.  (Yes, I have the JoAnn app and the Michael’s app – coupons right on your phone!)  She said I couldn’t since everything was on sale, but then she whispered to me, “do you have the Michael’s app?” and I said yes and she said “there is a coupon on there you might like to use.”  She couldn’t tell me which one, but once I got on the app I noticed there was a 25% off total purchase of frames.  Score!  So on top of the 60% off of each frame, I also got 25% off of my entire purchase.  My total went from $40 to $29 just with that little tidbit of info.  I love that.

And I have an even better shopping story from last night.  As you know, it’s been cold here the last couple of nights, and because we live in Florida where it’s always warm Jillian doesn’t have any long sleeved/long pant onesies to wear to bed when it’s chilly out.  So I decided to go to Bealls (a Florida store like Kohls) because they have a great baby section and they always have sales.  I had a coupon on my phone, but left my phone at home on accident.  Grr.  So I bought 4 Carter’s onesies for Jillian, all 50% off and a cute little hoodie (I’m obviously in the mindset that it’s going to be frigid here for a long time – ha).

The guy at the cash register rung everything up and the total came to $47 (a bargain in and of itself since everything was 50% off).  I looked for my phone and realized it wasn’t there and said “oh no, I forgot my phone and I had a coupon on it.”  He said, “don’t worry, I can give you the discount without the coupon.”  He punched a bunch of magical stuff in the computer and my total came out to $24.44.  For real?  I asked him several times if that was correct and he said it was.  Okie dokie, I will definitely take that.  Afterwards I looked at my receipt I realized I got an extra 40% off of everything.  Wow.  So I basically paid $5 for each item I bought.  You can’t beat that.  I heart saving money.

So that’s my story for today.  And now I will leave you with a pic of Jillian rocking one of her super cute purchases.  Have a fabulous Friday!!

Cold Excuse

It is COLD here in Central Florida!  This morning we had temperatures in the lower 50s, which meant that this girl did not get out of bed to go for a run, that’s for sure.  I know, it’s such a lame excuse not to work out, but for a Florida girl, it’s one of those things that just makes me want to stay in bed and under the covers.  No worries though, the cold weather is supposed to be gone tomorrow (back to 80 degree temps), so that is good.

I need to be running because I am doing two 5Ks coming up soon.  The first is at the end of this month, the PurpleStride 5K, which benefits pancreatic cancer.  A friend from work put together a team in honor of her mom who died of pancreatic cancer, so we’ve all raised funds and are running for her.  We even have snazzy team t-shirts (you know I love a team tshirt).

Tower of Terror 10 Miler 2013
The second one is the annual Reindeer Run out at Sea World.  It’s not a 5K, it’s a 3 miler, which is dumb, just add on a .1 and call it a 5K, but whatever.  It’s one of my favorite 5Ks because running at Sea World is just cool.  I did it two years ago with Amanda and Jade.

Circa 2011
I missed last year because I was gigantic pregnant, so I’m excited to do it again.

All that said, I must do some running in the next couple of weeks!  Now the weather just needs to cooperate, or I just need to suck it up and wear a sweatshirt, right?

Alright, that’s all I have time for.  Someone is in the Tupperware cabinet AGAIN…

Questions for you …
How do you stay motivated in the colder months?

Some Rules

Hi there!  I totally meant to blog yesterday, but I was caught up in all of the Wine and Dine race recaps from all of the fab bloggers who were in my backyard over the weekend (some fun recaps here and here).  Makes me a little bummed that I didn’t run Wine and Dine, I totally could have stalked my fave bloggers.  Just kidding.  They are all way faster than me, so I’d never be able to catch them.  Hehe.  As a consolation we did go out to Epcot on Saturday night, the night of the race, because I wanted to feel the energy of the weekend (and I wanted to eat chimichurri from Food and Wine Festival one last time).  I got to see the new (and improved) finish line, so that was kind of exciting, but it made me feel a little bummed that I wasn’t part of it  Oh well, next year.

So for the last couple of weeks I have kind of been in a funk with my diet and my exercise.  Since Halloween and my birthday are within a week of each other, that week in between is kind of like a sweets free for all.  We have so many treats in our house leftover from my birthday – cake, cupcakes, cookies, candy, Twinkies (yes, Twinkies) – I am at a point where I just want to throw it all away.  I should, but I hate to waste things, so I am making Hubs eat it all and trying to refrain from eating it myself.  It’s really difficult though.  Case in point, I just ate a few Twizzlers and I wasn’t even hungry.  Ugh.

So to help me get back on track and on the healthy train I have put together to rules to live by over the next few weeks, months, heck, just general rules to live by.  So here goes…

Take vitamins
I used to be religious about taking a multi vitamin every day, but lately I have fallen off of that wagon.  Since my diet lacks, well, an array of vegetables, I need to get those important vitamins and minerals somehow and multi vitamins are the answer.  So I really need to get back into the habit of taking them daily.

An apple a day …
I used to eat an apple a day, sometimes two, and it was delicious, helped keep me full and was good for me.  Lately I haven’t been eating apples and why not?  They are in season, they are beautiful, there is no excuse not to do this.

Drink more water
I’ve been a lot better about this lately.  My goal is 3 liters a day, so I bought a 1.5 liter bottle from the grocery store and I drink two.  Done and done.  And it’s pretty easy.

Cook at home more
I can’t remember the last time I cooked a meal.  Seriously, it’s been a while.  That’s going to change this week!  Well, after tonight, I have a birthday dinner with the gals tonight.  But tomorrow night for sure.

Create a weekly exercise plan on Sunday nights
Monica likes to call this Sunday Set Up.  I need to plan my workouts ahead of time, otherwise I won’t do them.  So here’s the plan this week…

Monday – Run outside  CHECK!
Tuesday – Walk with Jillian and strength workout  CHECK!
Wednesday – Run outside
Thursday – Run outside or walk with Jillian and strength workout
Friday – Gym or run outside
Saturday – Run outside
Sunday – Off

I know, lofty goals for not having worked out in a while, but if you plan it and blog it, it will happen.  I like to think that anyway.

So those are my rules to live by for right now.  I have come so very far in my weight loss journey (currently minus 52 since having Jillian!) so I can’t lose momentum now, gotta stay on track and get rid of all of that sugar that is plaguing my kitchen!  Sheesh!

Hope you’re having a great Tuesday!

Questions for you …
What are your healthy “rules” for this time of year?

Birthday Fun

What day is it today?  I am so off from my travels earlier this week.  Traveling is like a big ol time warp for me.  I always feel like I am gone a full week when I travel, even when I’m only gone a day or two.  It’s so weird.

Anyway, when I finally realized this morning that today was Friday (!!!) I jumped right out of bed (OK, that’s an exaggeration) and decided to get moving.  I did not do what I said I was going to do yesterday (exercise of some sort), which I was a little bummed about, but I’ll get to that in a minute.  So this morning I decided I had to do something exercise-y - plus, the weather outside was gloriously cool and breezy – so I strapped on my shoes and my new Garmin 10 and was off. I definitely felt like I hadn’t run for close to two weeks.  Egads.  I could barely move my legs fast enough to constitute a jog, so that was a problem, but I got it done.  It wasn’t pretty, but I did it.  I’ll be doing it again tomorrow, for sure.

My birthday celebration yesterday was fabulous.  Hubs had made plans for us and told me to get up and get dressed because we were going to Animal Kingdom.  Fun!  I didn’t know it, but he had made reservations for us at the nice sit down restaurant in the park called Yak and Yeti, an Asian inspired restaurant. Before we left for the park, Jillian helped me open one of my gifts that my parents left behind for me on Monday.

It was a new crock pot!  You know you’re getting older when you have a new, pretty crock pot on your birthday list.  (I cannot wait to use it)

After that we made our way to the park.  We enjoyed the cooler weather and rode the safari and saw some animals.  And then it was time for our lunch reservation at Yak and Yeti.  It was great.  The restaurant itself was beautiful and the food was great.  I had honey chicken, which was excellent and Hubs had a Asian style Kobe beef burger.  All delish!  From there, we walked around a little longer, saw some more animals and made our way out of the park.  We don’t go to Animal Kingdom nearly as much as we should.  It’s such a beautiful park.  It felt really good being out in the fresh air after being cooped up in airplanes and the office all week.  Great day!  After we got home we were all pooped and just chilled at home.  All in all, fabulous birthday and a great way to usher in my “mid to late” 30’s.  Sheesh.  Just kidding.  It’s really not that bad, I don’t really feel any different than I did at 35.  It’s all what you make of it, right?

Alright, there is a ton to do here at work today considering I didn’t get much done all week with travel and whatnot, so I should probably skedaddle!  Hope you’re having a fab Friday.

Questions for you …
- Have you had a birthday where you felt “OUCH, I’m getting older!”?
- What did you do for exercise today?

Stranded

So I got to the airport today for my 12:30 flight and my flight said "On Time." I had just enough time to get some lunch, get a magazine and get to my gate. En route to my gate I got a text message from Southwest telling me that my flight was going to be delayed - TWO HOURS. Blerg. So now I'm stranded in the airport for an extra two hours so I thought I'd talk to you fine folks.

Random Airport Thoughts

I have that Wrecking Ball song stuck in my head. I hate Miley Cyrus like it's my job, but I must say that song isn't bad. I had never heard it until I got here on Monday because I don't ever listen to the radio. Since I had a rental car I was forced to listen, and in the two days I have been here, and the approximately 30 minutes total I spent in the car over those two days, I heard Wrecking Ball 64 times. Yes this is an exaggeration, but seriously, every station, every time I was in the car, played it. C'mon now! This is why I hate radio - they ruin music because they overplay everything to death. This is why I dislike Adele, radio ruined her for me when they played Rolling In The Deep 6.7 million times over the course of one day. Hate that.

I just saw a 5-6 year old walking around the airport with a pacifier in her mouth. Really? It's times like these I am really glad Jillian is not a fan of the binkie.

Since tomorrow is my birthday and it's a somewhat tougher birthday (because I realize I'm getting old) I have decided to only do things that make me happy tomorrow. This includes, but is not limited to, going to the gym (or going for a run - some form of exercise), spending the entire day with Jillian and Hubs, going to Disney, eating good food (and by good food I don't mean healthy food, I mean donuts and cupcakes), getting something major done at home (like organizing my closet or cleaning out underneath my sink because it's scary under there - products galore), going shopping for new pants (because many of mine are suddenly too big), going to. Ulta to spend my $10 birthday certificate.... I know the day is not 47 hours long and I won't be able to do half of those things, but I can dream, right?

I'm reading the follow up book to Devil Wears Prada and I am enjoying it so far. I want to read it now but fear I will drain the battery in my Nook before my flight - since I still have nearly two hours before boarding, ugh!

I am all of the sudden very tired. I should get up and walk around to wake up, but fear I will walk right up to Dunkin Donuts and buy a glazed donut, because I am craving one. I don't need that. So I will just stay put. Plus Bradley is so small you can walk from end to end in about 4 minutes tops, so what's the point?

Someone just walked by with a stroller with a little baby (maybe 4 months-ish). It made me totally miss Jillian. So peeved I'm being delayed from seeing her!!

OK I'm gonna go do something. Hope your Wednesday is going better than mine!

Bullets

Hiii!  It’s been a while, sorry!  It’s been busy over here.  Since my brain is mush, and I can’t think too much about paragraph structure and crafting a proper post,  I thought a bullet post would be a good idea.
  • I’m in Hartford!  I got here yesterday and I leave tomorrow, so it’s a quick trip.  It is COLD here.  Highs in the 40s lows in the 30s.  I’d be lying if I said I’m not kind of enjoying a little blast of cold (really cold) weather, since it’s still in the 80s at home.
  • After my whole “Running Motivation” post the other day I am sorry to report that I haven’t run at all since then.  So that makes…uh, two weeks now?  I’m so lame.  But, in my defense, I have been sick.
  • Yes sick.  I know, I never ever get sick, but last week I was walloped with a weird bout of a sore throat and swollen glands just on the right side.  It was strange.  And bad.  I had a fever, massive headache, not fun at all.  But thankfully it went away within a couple of days.  But I had to lay low, so no workouts.  Meh.
  • My birthday is on Thursday!  I’ll be rolling down the back end of my 30s with this birthday (36) and I think this is the first birthday where I have kind of been like “oh sht, I’m getting old.”  Birthdays never ever bother me, but this one is stinging just a little bit.
  • I have my birthday off of work and I told Hubs I want to do one thing – go to the gym.  I haven’t been to the gym since August I think.  Yeah, seriously.  I did all of my “training” (ha) for the 10 miler outside, so I haven’t been to the gym in ages.  This Thursday though, I might be making my triumphant return.  We’ll see.
  • This weekend we took Jillian to get professional pictures taken.  Check out the cuteness.

I literally just want to gobble her up.  She is the cutest thing EVERRRRR.
And now I am sniffling because I miss that little face.  Time to Face Time with her and Hubs.  Hope you’re having a great week!
