Where in the World is Kerry - Day 2

Today's clue: 

We made it to our destination yesterday afternoon. And it's a place that is the title of a popular 80s song by Bertie Higgins.

Where in the World is Kerry - Day 1

Hubs and I are on vacation. But where are we? I thought it might be fun to post clues and make you figure it out throughout the week. (Cuz we're on the move!)

Today's clue:

We are driving (road trippin!) south on 75 towards a city with a Hard Rock Cafe (of course, Hubs wouldn't go on a vacation if it didn't mean getting more pins for his collection) and an NBA team. 

But we're not stopping there, were going even further south...

I Got a Spray Tan

In preparation for our vacation, I decided to not subject people to the blinding whiteness that is me. I am so white I'm see through, so I decided to do something about it. 

I'm all for a good at home self tanner lotion, but I haven't found one that works well without stinking. Plus I never do it long enough to actually get to a color called "tan." So I decided to do what the glam girls do and get a real spray tan. Yeah, I know, crazy. 

I'm one of those people who has to do tons of research on something before I do it or buy it. Don't ever research spray tans, there's some crazy stuff out there. And literally after reading about all the prep and after care, it made me not want to do it (because who has time for exfoliation and patting dry?). But after talking to Amanda (who gets them every once in a while) and the girls at the spray tan place I got all the knowledge I needed. Plus I figured, look at all the dumb people who get spray tams, how hard could it be? 

It was fun! I bought a Groupon (BOGO!) for the kind where someone actually sprays you versus the machine kind - because I remember that episode of Friends where Ross does the spray tan machine. The horror. 

Anyway, I went, the girl explained everything to me, I asked a million questions and then it was time to get sprayed. I did a series of lovely poses while the girl sprayed me with what looked like a garden hose. Since I am so white I asked that she only spray me so that I looked naturally tan and not scary tan. I didn't want anyone to be like "wow, you got a spray tan" - I'm going more for the "ooh you've been out in the sun" type of reaction. 

When I was done I was a lovely shade of brownish, grayish, purplish. Yes, the girl told me that I would be straight up scary when I left and until I showered for the first time. And yes, I was a weirdly unnatural color until then. Thankfully I was just hanging at home...on an old dirty towel on the floor, because that weird color comes off on anything.  I am so glad I opted for the kind that you can wash after after 1-2 hours because if I had to sit any longer all sticky and tacky (and gray) I was going to go nuts. 

I showered off (only a quick rinse, no soap allowed) and the water was a dark gray color (grody) and when I got out of the shower I was pretty certain I had washed everything off because I was back to my pasty white color. Hmph. Apparently this is supposed to happen and you're supposed to get darker as the day goes on. 

And that I did. By the time I went to the bed I was golden. I have never been this tan before. Ever. Like in my entire life. It's amazing, and beautiful and I may just have to make his a regular thing because wow.

So that's my spray tan story. Since I have one more tan on my Groupon I will be getting another one before our annual Sanibel Island trip next month. Fun!

Rolling the Dough

Hubs and I have a vacation coming up and we are actually using our collection of spare change to finance it.  Yes, I said spare change.

For the last 2 or 3 years (I can’t remember which Christmas I got Hubs his Sharper Image coin counter thingie) we have been throwing our spare change into a large jar with the goal of filling it to the top (it’s a really big jar, like gallon-sized) and then using the money for something cool.  Usually when we get a collection of change, we roll it and cash out or put it in the bank.  But we made a pact to use it for something good. 

We rolled everything the other night – no Coinstar for us, they take 10.9%, robbery!!! – and we managed to save $327 in pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters.  How cool is that?!!  So that gives us a nice chunk of change to use on gas, food and entertainment. 

I didn’t include hotel in that last statement because one of our hotel stays was bought strictly with stockpiled Hilton points (aka – free!).  I love free things.

And now it’s sort of a game to see how much unconventional money we can raise.  We had an impromptu garage sale on Saturday, and some of the items we didn’t sell at the garage sale, we sold to a baby consignment shop for money as well.  Cha-ching. 

And then my favorite money saving story of the week happened yesterday when Hubs texted me saying that we got an email from AT&T saying that we had gone over our cell phone minutes this month (dumb work calls) and had incurred over $100 in charges.  Yes, this is true, and horrifying.  So I called to see what they could do for me.  I ended up getting the charges waived, and a new unlimited talk plan for way less money than we were paying for our old 550 minutes per month plan.  I was mighty proud of that.  I love saving money, it makes me happy. 

Completely unrelated to any of this, wanted to give a T25 update.  I'm still going strong!  4 days this week (that includes Sunday).  I took today off because a) I had an 8am meeting this morning and; b) I needed a rest day.   Tomorrow I'm back to it with Speed 2.0 (that crazy workout I was telling you about last week).  I already feel stronger and more toned - good for the impending vacay.  T25 is the real deal y'all!

Not Running Disney

I know I haven’t been running lately, and I know I said the other day that I like the fact that I don’t have a race hanging over my head at the moment.  But, I would like to do one towards the end of the year.  I was thinking about the Tower of Terror 10 Miler in October or even the Disney Wine and Dine Half (or relay) in November.  Yesterday I went on to the runDisney site and I noticed that they are both sold out.  Oh well, so much for that.

So then I set my sights on Disney’s Marathon Weekend in January.  January 2015.  As in 8 months from now.  There are 4 races – 5K, 10K, Half and Full Marathon – and I was leaning toward the 10K since I have never done it before (and it’s way less of a commitment).  All of the races during marathon weekend went on sale yesterday at noon.  Today at 12:20pm I went to the runDisney site and saw that all races, with the exception of the full marathon (because who wants to do that crap – hehe), are all sold out.  Are you kidding me??!  It’s been 24 hours and every race is sold out?  Seriously!?!  I am so perturbed right now I could scream. And here I was thinking I was way ahead of the ball by registering today. 

I love my Disney races, you  know this.  All of the 12 half marathons I’ve done have been on Disney soil.

But they have come to be a bit ridiculous.  When I first started running you could register for a race a month or two before and not have a problem.  The races were also maybe 10,000 people.  Over the years, they have opened the race up to gobs more people and now they average in the 20,000-25,000 range, which I personally like on race day, because I know I won’t be dead last.  But I hate the fact that they sell out so quickly.  If you don’t remember to register on the day/minute it goes on sales you’re out of luck – that’s not cool.  When did this become so huge?  Soon they're going to make it like Boston where you have to qualify to get in, and then I'll really never get to run Disney.

My experience today kind of turned me off from Disney races a bit.  I know, that is crazy for me to say since I am a tried and true Disney runner (and overall Disney freak).  But seriously, for the first time I actually thought “I think I’d like to just stay away from Disney races.”  I guess I’ll have to now, since there are no spots for me this year or during Marathon Weekend anyway.

Fun Easter

Hello! It's Monday again. How does that happen? Weekends go by so fast. 

We had a great weekend. Jillian's second Easter was a huge, fun success. Last Easter she was just a newborn, so this year was fun because we got to do fun things like Easter baskets (she got three - one from us, and one from each set of grandparents), church and an Easter egg hunt!

She was perfect during church. I was a little worried because she was feisty in the car on the way there. Thought we might have to sit in the baby room, but no. 

Then it was time for brunch at my in laws and an Easter egg hunt! Jillian's first! 

So much fun. It was a great Easter!! 

Yesterday and today I did my T25, which is good considering I didn't stop eating once yesterday. Donuts, candy, ham, cheesy potatoes... There was so much delicious food. I definitely needed to sweat all of the sugar out this morning!

It's a Good Friday

Hello!  Happy Friday!  Happy GOOD Friday. 

It’s Easter weekend and I’m kicking it off with some candy! 

I went Easter basket shopping for Jillian and while she doesn’t eat candy yet, I still for some reason bought candy for her Easter basket.  I can’t get enough of Reese’s yumminess at Easter – white chocolate peanut butter eggs, Reese’s Pieces eggs, I got Hubs a chocolate peanut butter bunny.  Yum.  Since Jillian doesn’t eat candy, I got her cute Easter books, some plastic eggs and a toy bunny.  I also got her a small package of Peeps since they’re chewy and easy to eat.  We’ll see if she likes them – I am not a fan of Peeps. 

I started the morning off with a little T25.  Today was “Dynamic Core” and it was dynamic alright.  It was half cardio and half really hard core floor work.  All good!  I feel very “on” with the T25 lately.  This is a good thing!

Did anyone watch the Scandal finale last night?  OMG.  I won’t say anything about it, but I will say that WOW so much happened in an hour.  I was anxious the entire episode and afterwards I couldn’t sleep because I was so wound up.  Yikes.  That show is too good.

Alright I must go.  I have 101 things on my to do list before I can go home, and I was hoping to leave a little early today, so I’d better get crackin!

Pep Talk

Today was one of those mornings where I had to pep talk myself out of bed. I wanted to work out, but bed was so comfy, I was so tired, I didn't have any early meetings - it was the perfect day to lounge. But I kept saying to myself "you always feel great after a workout", "you won't regret it" and "it'll make the day so much better."  After a bunch of that I finally got up. So glad I did! 

Today I did a T25 workout called Speed 2.0 and holy cow, that ish was crazy!! I've done this workout once before but I must have blocked it from my memory because it was so crazy. We did three rounds of a set of 7 or 8 exercises, three times through, each time a little faster than the first. It was crazy good. And just what I needed this morning. I am really digging my decision to do the Beta workouts for a switch up. Love. 

And yeah, as a result of that, I didn't make that triumphant return back to the gym that I was contemplating. Maybe next week. I need a plan. 

I put on my Three Awesome Chicks shirt from the Tower of Terror 10 Miler today. Fun!


It made me want to run. Or sign up for a Disney race. Or not. I am kind of enjoying not having a race hanging over my head. 

And then Jilly and I did a photo shoot. Of the thousand pictures I took of us, this is really the only decent one and I still have wonky eye. I am terrible iPad photographer. 

She's getting so big, and look at those curls!! I just want to eat her up!!

Organized Chaos

Hi there.  It’s Tuesday and I’m happy to report that I’ve been on the workout wagon for two days this week.  Nice. 

To perk things up a bit, I switched from the T25 Alpha DVDs to the Beta DVDs and that is definitely a big help.  New workouts are always fun.  I loved today’s workout – Rip’t Circuit – because it incorporated weights and strength in with the crazy cardio, so I was definitely a fan this morning.  My goal was to get to the gym two days this week – Tuesday and Thursday – but I totally forgot to plan for it last night when I went to bed so when I woke up this morning I was like “oh, yeah, duh” and just did the T25 instead.  Thursday I will try again.

Hubs and I are in a spring cleaning kind of mood around here because our house looks like a 15 month old owns the place … oh wait, she does.  So we stumbled across a blogsite on “31 Days to an Organized Home.”  I spent about an hour reading through some of the posts last night and it made me want to get up and organize. Organize my kitchen, my pantry my closets, my sock drawer – all good stuff, and easy.  So we may be implementing some of these things in the near future.

Seriously, it’s been since Tuesday since we’ve chatted?  Aah!  It’s been a crazy week!  I have had blog topics going through my head all week, but I never actually had a chance to type them out.  Today I finally have some down time, so here I am!

So I realized that it was April – about two weeks into the month – and I thought about some goals to set for the month.  And then I laughed because I have been so bad at sticking to goals lately.  But still I thought it would be fun (read: funny) to recap my March goals that never really came to fruition. 

Goal 1 was – EXERCISE COMEBACK  #348685
This didn’t happen.  It did a little bit, towards the end of the month when I got back on the T25 bandwagon, but not as much as I was hoping this month.  I blame traveling two weeks in a row and work being so dang busy.  Yeah, I blame work.  And I shouldn’t because that’s dumb.  I only have myself to blame. 

Walking, running, getting my steps in every day.  I kind of did this.  Some days I got the amount of steps I wanted/needed, and some days I didn’t .  You heard about my giant push the last week of the month to get the amount of steps I needed to get my gym reimbursement, so I did this to some extent. 

Goal 3 was – BRING MY LUNCH
I did do this!  Mainly because I have been so busy at work that I didn’t have time to go out for lunch on days I was in the office.  Win win? 

So, what’s my plan this month (now that it’s already mid-month)?  I’m going to get back on track.  I did T25 four times this week, but I still feel a little unmotivated and just in a funk about exercise.  I need to do something to get myself excited again, to make exercise a top priority in my life, to get motivated again.  Some ideas:

- Get back to the gym a couple times a week to supplement T25 – it has been far too long since I’ve visited a treadmill or an elliptical machine

- Do some new workouts – I just discovered, so cool!

- Push ups every day – this is so easy to do, drop and do 10 anywhere, but yet I don’t do it

- Steps, steps, steps – I really really want to get in at least 7,000 a day.  Why is this so hard?!

So that’s the plan from here on.  I need to get back on the wagon.  I have said this so many times, and I’m tired of talking about it.  It’s time to make working out priority again.  Yay!

Sporadic Posting

Seriously, what is up with my sporadic posting? It has been so busy around here that I just have not had any time to write. Such a bummer because blogging is so therapeutic. It is! 

Since I worked my ass off today at work I can't really form a complete, grammatically correct paragraph so it's bullet time...
- This weekend was a good one - the home and garden show (we met Ahmed from Yard Crashers!), shopping, cleaning the house from top to bottom (also therapeutic), yummy food, some relaxing, capped off on Sunday night with Wrestlemania - awww yeah.

- Yeah, not ashamed that we watch wrestling (and Total Divas on E!) in this house. It's a big manly soap opera and it's oddly entertaining. I probably shouldn't admit that huh? 

- Still on the T25 wagon and it's going really well. It feels good to sweat every morning and be back on track. I hope it lasts. It will, because summer is almost here ... It was 90 degrees yesterday! 

- Jillian is still cute as ever. Just had to share that. 15 months old next week...where does time go? 


- Did anyone know this existed? I picked it up theming it was regular Smartfood (white cheddar popcorn), but it was kettle corn! Happy surprise!!


Aaaaand that's all I've got. I'm tired, it's time for bed.

What Day Is It?

Wait, what?  It’s Thursday?  Really? 

I feel like I have been in a cave all week.  A cave called work.  I had a workshop this week with 40 people in town from around the country, so I’ve had little to no time to do anything “me” related.  Good workshop, but so glad it’s over.  Here’s some bullets to get you caught up…

- Over the weekend we met another “Crasher” at Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival.  Matt Muenster from Bath Crashers.  Super nice dude. 

- We spent more time than we wanted at Epcot on Sunday.  We went to the 12 o’clock seminar by Matt, but didn’t get in line to meet him until it was too late, so we had to stick around for the 3:00 seminar to actually talk to him.  It’s okay though because the weather was glorious and I got in the remaining steps I needed to get my gym membership reimbursement.  What what!

- I didn’t work out this week at all until this morning.   Meh.  I blame work.  I had to be at work by 8am every day.  This is not late for most people, but it is for me.  I usually don’t leave for work until 8:45, which allows me the luxury of waking up at 6:45, working out and then going to work.  That did not happen this week.  Thankfully I’m working from home the rest of the week, so T25 is back on!  And it felt so good to sweat today.

- I got to wear my Stich Fix dress yesterday to work.  OMG I LOVE IT!  I want to wear it everywhere all of the time.  It is just so dang cute and I feel so fancy in it.  Love.  So sad that my next Fix is not until May 8th.  Ugh.

- I watched the series finale of HIMYM (How I Met Your Mother) on Monday.  I was okay with it.  I already had a sneaking suspicion that the mother was (SPOILER ALERT) dead and I was really really hoping that was false, but it wasn’t.  Not sure I buy into the whole Ted/Robin thing.  I dunno.  It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t my ideal cookie cutter ending that I wanted either.

- These came today…

Disney Magic Bands.  This means I now don’t have to faddle with my annual pass, I just slap on my bracelet and it gets me into the park, serves as my fast pass, etc.  It’s golden. And I'm a geek.

And now, I think we’re going to go and try out those Magic Bands.  It’s 5 o’clock and I am ready to get out of this house and get my Disney on (because that’s what most normal people do after work on a Thursday, right?).
