Florida Strawberry Festival 2015

Hey hey it’s Friday already!  How did that happen?

This week has been extra bonkers on the work end so I have had literally no time to check in and say hi.  Sad face.  But I wanted to check in and talk about our epic night out last night.  Because it was super fun.

Last night Hubs and I dropped off Jillian at his parent’s house and went on a fun adventure to the Florida Strawberry Festival in Plant City.  We had tickets to see the Newsboys in concert who were performing at the festival, so we made a night of it.  You may remember us going to the Strawberry Festival in previous years to see tobyMac (in 2012) and Boyz II Men last year.  I love going to the Strawberry Festival, it’s your standard carnie carnival (rides, all the fried food booths you can fathom, etc) but with strawberries and strawberry shortcake and concerts.  It’s really fun.

We arrived in Plant City (about an hour away from our house) around 7 o’clock and I was blown away at how crowded the festival was for a Thursday evening.  The weather was perfection (it was sunny and 88 during the day in the 70s in the evening – glorious) so that might be why.  We had just enough time to grab some food before the concert.  Choosing food at a carnival is stressful.  There is so much amazing stuff you really have to sort of plan it out.  Since we were pressed for time, we grabbed something quick – a slice of pizza – and vowed to eat more after the show.  (yes, yes we did)

The show was amazing.  The Newsboys never fail to be awesome and this concert was no different.

Their music is amazing, their message is amazing, they are entertaining, and just all around fabulous.  Such a great time!

After the show we were still hungry (duh) so next on our list was a corn dog.  You can’t go to a carnival and not have a corn dog.  Seriously.

I wonder what they sell there?

The corn dog was just so-so.  I’ve had better.

And then it was time for strawberry shortcake, because you can’t go to the Strawberry Festival and not get shortcake.  So we did.

And it was amazing. (do not look at my hair, it was really humid last night)

After all of the eating we decided to walk around and just take in the sights.

It's a good thing I don't think deep fried candy sounds appetizing

An entire tent devoted to bulk candy.  I loaded up on Cowtails and Caramel bullseyes.

I don't even know what this means, but I had to take a picture of it.

It was a lot of fun to be out, just the two of us.  Around 9:30 we hopped in the car and made the hour long drive home.  Fun night!

How about you ... Any good plans for the weekend?
